antibiotics for acne control

I have been getting some acne on cycle which remains for awhile even after i come off. I have begun using proactive and tanning regularly which keeps it under control off cycle but not while on.

My question is what antibiotic at what dose would you recommend for acne reduction on cycle.

fyi i am trying to avoid accutane if possible.

Doxycycline is the usual oral. Lots of topical choices. Lots of showers with acne rinse. Best bet is to see a doc.

But also make sure your estrogen isnt out of whack. That will give you acne that nothing will fix.

I'm with triatholon coach as far as estrogen goes.. This guy I know got a flare up during a pct that hes still yet to get over.

Hes on bactrim ds bd and accutane 20mg ed.. He will stop the bactrim soon, its only being used to keep the initial break out of the accutane at bay.

It is working.. He used to do the tanning, along with the creams etc...
He then realized the sides from tanning are potentially worse than those from Accutane. Many people pay around 120$ a month for tanning, soaps and creams.. Accutane costs less, wastes less time, and potentially, permanently fix the problem.

If you had mad acne before AAS use, then you are gonna need Accutane again at least once or twice while on or after AAS.

I tried everything and nothing except Accutane worked for me, and thats before AAS. After using AAS my acne came back, one more treatment cycle of accutane and im good five years on.

i have tried many topicals and doxy..currently trying tetracycline before i am referred to a derm who I assume will put me on accutane since nothing else has worked..

Alin, you are right.. there are some horrible side effects..

It's liver toxic as well. So that guy I know can't run any orals until hes done with the accutane..
