What do hospitals do for high bp

Just curious was on a thread talking about bp , let’s say you have a bp emergency ,I think the guy I was talking to said his bp was 185/105 , definitely a emergency and have to go to the hospital, his nose was bleeding, splitting headache and face was bright red ,what does the hospital give you to bring that down ? What’s the line of treatment for such a high bp when you go to the er, would a loop diuretic like Lasix be helpful in that situation?

Typically something via IV push like hydralazine or labetalol depending on what your heart rate and other vitals are.

If it’s still high after that then they may put you on a drip like Nicardipine.

Water pills are typically not a first-line treatment in an emergent situation and can cause other issues like with electrolytes.
