anyone ever pin without cleaning the site?

a bro of mine is fucking dumb. he just shot a ml of test, without wiping his quad with IA. hes now worried about an infection. i calmed him down by saying he would be fine, infections take a while to develop/show, etc. truth is, i dunno. i know people who do shots sometimes without swabbing... has anyone ever done it? DEFINITELY DONT RECOMMEND IT!

i've done it right after taking a shower because my woman was rushing me and forgot, but i used antibacterial soap so nothing happened. alcohol is so cheap why not use it. better to be safe than sorry. he should be fine though, unless he's a dirty mofo.

he had just gotten out of the shower, it was a spur of the moment kinda thing. he hadnt planned on starting his cycle for a while. thanks for the reply, i thought hed be okay too... just wanted to see what you guys thought.

i agree. i called him stupid so many times when he called me and told me. his excuse was, "he couldnt find it" hes picking some up tomorrow though, for next time.

although we think in terms of the tip of a needle being rather small....just how many bacteria and pathogens could we be pushing deep within our flesh and muscle. i'll bet alot!! don't be in such a rush when it comes to injecting. do it right....swab the site.

Ive ran out of swabs while deployed overseas before and used 70% alcohol hand sanitizer and had no issues.

ALWAYS prep with an alcohol swab or sanitizer of some sort. The friction of circular scrubbing motions also break up bacteria, fungus and pathogens as well. So 6 - 10 circular swipes will also help.
Knowing that everyone has staphylococcus aureus on their skin at any point in time - I wouldn't want to take the chance of inoculating myself with it or that it could be Methicillin Resistant... (MRSA)

My first cycle years back I had run out of swabs and bottles of alcohol. So not wanting to miss a shot, I just scrubbed the area thoroughly with hot water and antibacterial soap. This seemed to work pretty well, and I have read others doing the same.

Anymore I like to use alcohol or if I run out, I can always find a bottle of iodine in my medicine cabinet.

what do you do if the site does get infected? The first time i did an inject (carnitine) the area got red because like an idiot i didnt use alcohol. It went away after a few days though. Anybody gotten it worse then that? What have you done to fix the problem?

Sometimes the area can get red due to inflammation, not infection.

My worst shots ever were the first two of my first cycle. I shot Watson (pharmacy) Deca into my glutes. Both left and right cheek 7 days apart.

I dunno what I did (maybe missed the muscle and injected into the fat??) but both gave me baseball sized lumps that turned bluish-black... Like I got hit in the ass by a ball thrown by a MLB pitcher. They eventually went away but took over a month!

Needless to say, I rarely inject my glutes to this day.

the first shot i ever did was a quad shot of test e..it crippled me for days..i could not lift my leg 2 inches while laying down..i could not work,so i lost my job old school ugl from back in the day..but i did use an alcohol prep pad

antibiotics.. usually.. but if the infection progresses and becomes an abscess, surgery may be required.

Diabetics usually don't swab.. It takes 3mins for the alcohol to kill all the bacteria. I don't think swabbing does much but I do it anyways.

I saw some research once saying that it didn't really make a difference. I think the country the research came out of (UK? Not sure though) is thinking of not teaching med students to clean with alcohol in the future. I still do though.

100% true.
your skin is full of some nasty things even after showering. I bet you anything that if anyone jumps in the shower right now and scrubs themself with a bottle of bodywash and then take a few alcohol swabs and really scrub any area with that too, there will be some dirt on the swab.

I do when possible. There's been times when I don't have alcahol handy. Never had any problems either way.
