Applying for new Health Insurance

As I'm under 21, I'm still on my father's policy, however, my fatehr's business went out and we will no longer be covered by the great business medical we had in the past.
In applying for new health insurance, it asks height and weight. My concern is taht they are going to look at my height and weight and merely go by BMI standards and raise my rates or possibly not let me on. Right now I'm about 5'9-5'10 at 250ish at about 12% (but cutting)... Will this affect my rates, what can I do?

IF YOU APPEAR OVERWEIGHT YOUR RATES WILL BE HIGH. THEY WILL GIVE YOU A CHECK UP TO SEE YOU IN PERSON ALSO.

IronS:

I changed from coverage at my office to a personal policy last February to take advantage of the Health Savings Account IRA. I bought insurance from probably the largest HMO type provider in my state (Blue Cross/ Blue Shield)(Georgia), and actually purchased it online and by phone. No physical, no inspection etc. , 100% coverage in network after deductible. Four months later had a huge claim for heart failure, no hassles whatsoever and they still have never seem me in person.

Your age and past history will have a large effect but it really depends on the provider type, and coverage type. Life insurance is a different story altogether. The literally went up my arse with a probe. I sometimes hope for death just so they will have to pay up! :D

Yea, thats pretty much along the lines of what I was thinking. I know that life insurance can be a hassle, and I know multiple older bodybuilders that have had a problem getting it because of size.

Given that Im only 19 and have a clear health pattern should help me out quite a bit.
I'm blue cross/blue shield as well, great insurance right now through the business, but Cali is in such bad shape right now, that businesses are closing left and right and a lot of people are switching to personal policies. Obviously, until 21 I will remain on my father's policy given I am full time student status. The fact that my father has extreme high blood pressure (205/155      ) makes it hard for him to find a good one. I'm doing really good in school and making great progress, the last thing I want is a guilt trip about my size that I work so hard for lol.

Luckly i've had my insurance guy for a while.Im 250ish as well but we put on the form that im 200lbs.
