Are Gyms Closing In Your Area?

I have seen the exact trend you mentioned. Gyms are building their own facility rather than renting. They just built a new gym next to me and the same chain is building another 10 mins away from scratch as rent prices are crazy.

Today I went to the LA Fitness that's been my home gym for about six months and they had signs up saying the club would be closing on March 27. I saw the former general manager there - he quit about two months ago and told me it was due to how bad corporate is getting.

LA was always in the best financial shape of the big chain gyms but he told me they've taken a big hit the last few years. The remodeling of clubs to have more functional / CrossFit / athletic stuff hasn't paid off and raising prices has hurt memberships. Right now they're closing unprofitable clubs. He said he believes the owner is going to sell the company to his sister.

Ya they are dying off. It looks like EOS is going to take over in our area. I started going to the one in South Ft Worth and most the crowd came from LA also. Very nice gym and tons of equipment.

How far are you from Destination Dallas in Allen?

I'd love to but don't have the space for it right now. When I take over my parents' ranch I will definitely be turning part of the barn into a gym.

How far are you from Destination Dallas in Allen?

17 miles but with rush hour traffic that drive can be close to an hour. I'm not the type who likes a long drive to the gym to drink preworkout, listen to music, etc. - I like to get in and out as quick as possible. The drive is the only reason I don't go to Destination and I know a few other guys who live in Dallas that are the same.

No LA Fitness locations in Nashville area, but there are a few left here in Tennessee and they've been rebadged as "Esporta Fitness" now. Interesting.

There are tons of Golds Gym locations here in TN! All are fine gyms. And very affordable.

The only major gym that has closed in metro Nashville is Singerman's Redcon1 Gym :/ ...was actually a pretty cool gym. Huge place, tons of great equipment. It's too bad, but a few other gyms have popped up in its place....

I blame Blessing Awodibu for Redcon1's failure... j/k lol

I’m just shocked by the lack of gym selection. Dallas is one of my favorite cities and it’s so fucking big. You’d think there would be versions of Destination Dallas everywhere.
