Just keep in mind that Pomegranate Juice can affect other medications, just like Citrus Bergamot.

Carbamazepine (Tegretol) is broken down by the body. Drinking pomegranate juice might decrease how fast the body breaks down carbamazepine (Tegretol). This might increase the effects and side effects of carbamazepine (Tegretol).

Medications changed by the body (Cytochrome P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) substrates

Some medications are changed and broken down by the body. Pomegranate might decrease how quickly the body breaks down some medications. Taking pomegranate along with some medications that are changed by the body can increase the effects and side effects of your medication. Before taking pomegranate, talk to your healthcare provider if you take any medications that are changed by the body.

The ASTEROID trial showed regression of arterial plaque through high dose statin to lower LDL pretty low.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/16533939/

LDL c was lowered pretty severely; I think mean levels were 60 mg/DL. HDL was increased as well; mean levels at the end were 49 mg/DL after the therapy.

If we’re talking numbers for changes occurred:

“. The mean (SD) change in PAV for the entire vessel was -0.98% (3.15%), with a median of -0.79% (97.5% CI, -1.21% to -0.53%) (P<.001 vs baseline). The mean (SD) change in atheroma volume in the most diseased 10-mm subsegment was -6.1 (10.1) mm3, with a median of -5.6 mm3 (97.5% CI, -6.8 to -4.0 mm3) (P<.001 vs baseline). Change in total atheroma volume showed a 6.8% median reduction; with a mean (SD) reduction of -14.7 (25.7) mm3, with a median of -12.5 mm3 (95% CI, -15.1 to -10.5 mm3) (P<.001 vs baseline). “

I’m not sure how people felt during this trial; no adverse events recorded but some common sides of statin use were present im sure.

Abstract

OBJECTIVES:

To examine the effects of pomegranate extract on inflammation and oxidative stress and the development of spontaneous occlusive coronary artery atherosclerosis in the SR-BI/apoE double knockout mouse model of coronary heart disease.

METHODS AND RESULTS:

SR-BI/apoE double KO mice were treated for two weeks with pomegranate extract via drinking water, beginning at three weeks of age. Treatment with pomegranate extract increased cholesterol ester content and reduced the abnormally high unesterified/esterified cholesterol ratio of VLDL-sized lipoproteins. Despite the increase in cholesterol levels associated with VLDL-sized particles, pomegranate extract treatment reduced the size of atherosclerotic plaques in the aortic sinus and reduced the proportion of coronary arteries with occlusive atherosclerotic plaques. Treatment with pomegranate extract resulted in substantial reductions in levels of oxidative stress and monocyte chemotactic protein-1 in atherosclerotic plaques in the aortic sinus and coronary arteries. In addition, treatment with pomegranate extract reduced lipid accumulation, macrophage infiltration, levels of monocyte chemotactic protein-1 and fibrosis in the myocardium, attenuated cardiac enlargement and the development of ECG abnormalities in SR-BI/apoE double KO mice.

CONCLUSION:

Pomegranate extract reduced aortic sinus and coronary artery atherosclerosis in SR-BI/apoE dKO mice. The atheroprotective effects of pomegranate extract appear to involve reduced oxidative stress and inflammation in the vessel wall despite unaltered systemic markers of inflammation and increased lipoprotein cholesterol in these mice.

Your best bet is regular and consistent cardiovascular exercise.

Tadalafil/cialis has been shown to reverse endothelial damage in mice or rodents, so likely chance in humans.

Vitamin K2 has some research suggesting it may even reverse plaque and arterial stiffness.

First of all, are you sure you have early signs / stages of atherosclerosis? I had a nuclear medicine stress test performed and everything came back "normal". I said "normal for my age" and they said "normal as in it looks really good." So, as others have said, best you can do is preventative. Take the necessary steps to ensure it doesn't get worse.

Also,

High BP and high HCT/HGB is linked to atherosclerosis as well.

Very curious

Has anyone had a before and after coronary CT before starting a supplement regiment in anticipation of plaque regression?

Not that I'm underpinning any of these supplements, moreso curious of your findings.

Gonna go that route when I have enough under my belt for plaque to show [emoji51]

Same thing can be said about pre and post bloods being pulled for all sorts of things guys take

I've wondered this too, great question, Stewie! Same for me....just for curiosity of differences.
