Syntheselen has B-12 in it as well but if you want something with just B-12 then synthelamin would be much more economical.

I just read the label and there's no Methylcobalamin...it's Hydroxycobalamin & Cyanocobalamin.

Now, I'm a complete noob to B-12, so can anyone tell me the differentiation between these different forms?

I'm asking not for myself, but my gf asked for her sister, so I'm assuming there was a reason she was asking about the B-12 Methylcobalamin.

I've done some digging and found that Hydroxo- and Cyano- are both converted to Methyl- in vivo. For whatever reason, and I can't get a straight answer, her sister only wants the Methyl-.

Is there any clinical reason that it would be more desirable? No conversion, etc?

Otherwise, I'm about to tell her to find it herself.

Edit...her sister was told by a doc that it helps with fat-burning. I'm unaware of this... For all I know, it could be the same kind of doc that recommends the HCG diet!

So, from THAT angle, any info or opinions?

After what you posted above (wanting it for fat loss) I was going to say 100% get syntheselen as that is amazing and has vit b12 in it. But after reading this post I agree don't contribute to her stupidity

You need to tell her the HCG diet is well you know. These women and their 500 cal diets

Shame as syntheselen could have been great for her but her stupid eating habits are not going to end in a good way regardless what she runs.

When she said B12, I thought it was for energy and general well-being, as part of a reasonable exercise/nutrition plan. Hell, I could use that!

Her sister has always been overweight and refuses to exercise or eat properly...always looking for shortcuts. I should have realized my initial thought was giving her too much credit.:banged:

Probably saw it on Dr. Oz or some such shit. I'm not even going to get into it with her. She's seen me eat and train for almost 4 years now and should know better. Let her waste her money, I'm not wasting my breath trying to educate the unwilling.
