The bench press is perhaps the hardest lift to bust through a plateau in. I don’t know why but it’s the same way for me. I can steadily increase in every other lift. But once I hit my max of either 400 or 500 depending on whether I’m off or on I can’t get much higher then that. Maybe it’s the vulnerability of the lift leaves people with a mental block
