Best firewall for home use. (Paid or Free)

Ive used Sygate for years but they where bought out by Norton back in 2005 which is the best now for home use?

Unless you are being stupid, crusing porn constantly and trying to dowload shareware kazza bearfuck whatever its called now a days you really are fine, no one is trying to break into your less than stellar cable connection for anything usefull.
Now if you are running behind some 100mbit lines let me know, i can find some uses for your machines

Good call Michelin, i forget that most home users don't know what they are asking. It didn't occur to me that someone would be mistaking a firewall with virus scan or spyware scanning software. Im on the corporate side of things so someone says firewall, i recommend a sonicwall appliance

If you've got a spare old computer, download "smoothwall" it's free and easy. It's a hardware firewall and is a lot better than most firewall's that you download.

I hate firewall software its retarded asking you all the time to unblock stuff if your running xp keep your windows firewall up and if you have a router there is not need because it does the same thing as a firewall. get a good anti virus and your set.

whats really nice about a good firewall is that it will block outgoing connections as well. I am betting your routers is not doing that.
many firewalls will be bloated with additional features at that.. like different levels of apihooking that makes it possible to block access to certain areas of the windows api for programs of your choice.
