You guys might glamourize this sport by watching videos for inspiration, but the truth is that he is in pain quite a lot, does not like the sport, and cant wait to return to a somewhat normal weight.

Do you think you will have got in Jays state if you stayed in the competition mode Phil? By the way, thats one of your best pics in your avatar. As in '' not showing'' how you really feel and growing to dislike it.
Its a shame for when Jay was sharing out the book on his life and all, to think that the sport at the Pro level demands such an extreme from a person, Im glad I dont have to pursue it . if ever it becomes a chore to me, I stop instantly. Yes it will be great to compete one day. When Victor Martinez in a recent interview said they get thrown bones by the organisers and all, it's the sad truth.

Can you elaborate Phil? In pain from what, years of heavy training, the drugs? What would be a normal weight for him?

we've talked

There are a few guys on here that have no idea what it takes to get to the top and stay there for a while...Money, time, sacrifice in relationships with others and yourself, health (menatally and physically)....

I am not sure if you ever made a post about that but it woudl be a great insightful piece of info to read if you have the time..

I cant elaborate

I cant because I just keep hearing this from people that train in his gym and NPC judges he is close to. Believe me, it is not fun being that big. It is hard to sleep comfortably, breathe, eat all the time, expectations from everyone about your size and shape, train to the wall every time, etc....Before anyone jumps on me telling me that I just dont like the sport and to go to another site and complain, if you have never been even close to being that big, dont even bother commenting.

I did post about it and a few people got upset and told me to go to another site because all I did was complain about the sport. I will leave my opinions to people who I consider my close friends only from now on. You are one by the way......sugar. :D

That's too bad. I for one would like to know the good and the bad of being at that level. Too much of it is kept away with smoke and mirrors that no one really has any idea what all pro level bodybuilders go through. Everone wants to be 300lbs and ripped, not many know what it takes to get and stay there.

Honestly, I can't say I've ever heard any pro say anything good about being a pro. It seems that pro bodybuilding is an ugly, life threatening, isolating, and often disguisting sport that is NOT worth persuing unless you are able to be among the top 5 in the world and don't mind having your life consumed by building muscle and shortening your life span by who knows how long.

I can sayI not as big as J but I currently 290 at 6-7 % and 5-9 nearly 5 -10 :) and sometimes I do just want to not feel hungary every 30mins or blend in with everyone else in the crowd , mainly stop the detectives following me :) or have few days break from training without looking in the mirror and see myself shrinking away. Even being able to sleep on my stomach without waking up with 2 paralised arms arghhhhhhhhhhh hahahah but hey this the sport I choose so thems the facts of life :) enough ranting from me I hungary been 25 min since last eat hahahah

BigKiwi your a great inspiration to us all my friend. Its too bad that the authorities are still always on your dick about your lifestyle you choose to live. Really sucks!

Phil,

you really know how to try & make someone feel bad or guilty about what they have said in the past to you on here. lol..

I have the utmost respect for you speaking your mind. Some people just can't accept people for who they are & well they need to get over it. People change and the choices they make in life from the beginning to the end chnage as well.

Kind of reminds me of all the times Vander has gotten shit for being Vander here. Just because someone cares to speak there mind & they have a difference in opinion or stronger feelings in one aspect of life then another does sure dont make them any less of a person.

One cant express how good it feels to be yourself & not try to be someone your not. Just keep on being you bro thats all that matters! I too even though I have never even competed nor came over 245lbs in my life time have changed my outlook on life & what i do to my body. You live & you learn in the end we hope you take what you have learned and live longer with it.

Respectfully,

Mr.Huge

before i hurt myself i was 250 under 5'7 10%bf and was headed to an easy 260 and life was miserable. bodybuilding for me was a chore. i loved looking big but hated being big. hey, i had a hard time wipin my ass so i know guys much larger than me must have had a third arm. i hated the sleepless nights, the sleep apnea, heart burn, sore sites, injects, eating, buying clothes, sweating, breathing heavy from walking, injects, lethargy from slin, the ups and downs of sex, joint pain, the nasty looks, the enlarged tongue, the knumb arms and hands, the soreness all the time, injects, mood swings, the dea, and most of all, going in the gym to lift heavy and push and push everytime. i was a prisoner of my own desire. i can surely feel for those who can keep up with the insanity.

would i give it a try again? uh...no

That means alot to me. Thank you. :)

Yeah Phil, actually you do not have to be as big as Jay, or yourself, to understand what you originally said. This is my passion, but at the same time its a huge chore-for all the reasons the guys so far have mentioned. And I
can imagine if its that way for me, what it must be for guys like you, Kiwi, Jay. 10x as bad. There must be some enjoyment, but at the same time-misery.

Keep in mind that it's a guy's choice to be freakier than normal. Anyone could be 150lbs, but to be 300lbs there's a much higher price to pay (literally).

And I don't think it's any more selfish than other sports. They also require huge amounts of committment. Golfers and tennis players don't happen overnight.

Bodybuilding is unique in that it goes beyond normal physical social parameters.

Any bodybuilder (competitive or not) walks into a room at 300lbs and he's a force of nature, everyone can't but stop and stare either in awe or digust. A tennis or golf player walks in and unless they're somebody no one will notice.

And why do huge bb get annoyed when people gawk at them in public? It's like a hot chick that wears a thong in public and gets pissed off she gets cat calls and hassled.

I was just curious? Are there guy who get away doing this without all the negative crap? I question this sport a lot. You have to have been into it long enough to begin seeing the other side. I haven't even begun to carry the size porportional to that of Culter. I can't imagine; however, there have to be some pros out there who may not be folding to all the pressure and strain. (And again I'm not expected to live up to Cutler's expectations. His travel schedule alone must be rough.) Physically, mentally, etc... Don't get me wrong, this sport has many good points and probably much more bad. I get up to around 240 lbs at 5'6 and I have only experienced I few of the things mentioned above. Is this time or I'm I not carrying enough size? Do some adapt better and carry weight easier than others? I don't want this sport to steal my soul. I don't want to look back and have regrets. It's a choice. The only thing I would rather be doing is creating rock and roll and playing in a traveling band.:) You think I'm joking!

yes i do gane weight and yes its hard for some time.but your body get used to it.and i am trying to gane again and again.
i know guys BB is very hard sport and if you have nothing going on its hard to suport this sport until you are somebody and have somebody who will help you fiancialy.
how many top BB do the all show and they are broke.i think that the bigest down fall of this sport if you nobody,oh well you are nobody.i guess this is why a lot of you guys just dont know DOES IT PAYING OFF to be in this sport.this sport takes everything, but gives back close to NOTHING.how many time guys did you asked yourself WHY I AM DOING THIS?
but if we talk about me,i love this sport.and i want to be at that level,i want to be 300,i want to feel that.my only question was so far CAN I GET THERE,i do everything i lift heavy, even heavyer then some pro BB.but i am not that bug as they are,so i guess i need to eat more.
And BIG KIWI you one of the guys who inspire all of us.you are 290 7% that nice.Same Phill,JT and all of you.who makes me train as hard as i want,to comeback from the injuries and get injured again :D trust me i dont want to.this is who i am.

i found it

i found teh bigger i got the harder it is to get bigger and stay bigger...if oyu let it get into your head you can be finshed real fast but if you do what youhave to and try not to rush things it can be fun ...always have fun...

There was a time when it was not fun and at 5ft 6in i went from 190lbs 9% to 198lbs 15%...i looked that way for 2 years and always wore a baggy T-shirt...when i knew i was going to meet Phil i had a new goal so i started hittign the gym again and had a new goal...

So keep goals realistic and obtainable and you'll set yourself up for failure..

Keeping it real...BBB

I WONDER IF EVERYONE FEELS THE SAME?

AT WHAT POINT DOES A GUY [A RETARDED LOSER LIKE MYSELF] GET TO THAT POINT? I WONDER IF I JUST HAVE SO LITTLE TO DO IN THIS RURAL STATE THAT GOING TO A GYM SEEMS FUN TO ME AFTER ALL THIS TIME.

I GUESS THE PRESSURE OF IT ...LOOKING GOOD ALL THE TIME... COULD GET TO BE A BURDEN. I AM NOT AND NEVER WILL BE BIG ENOUGH TO IMAGINE WHAT IT WOULD BE LIKE TO BE AS LARGE AS PHIL WAS OR AS BIG AS JAY CUTLER....SO I GUESS I'LL NEVER KNOW. I ACTUALLY LIKE EATING A LOT OF FOOD....MAYBE IT'S DUE TO THE FACT THAT I DON'T "HAVE" TO DO IT. LIKE I AM JUST DOING THIS SPORT AS A HOBBY, NOT FOR A LIVING.

THANK GOD CAUSE I'D REALLY BE BROKE! I APPRECIATE PHIL'S INPUT HERE BECAUSE HE IS IN A POSITION TO KNOW MANY PROS....IT JUST MAKES ME FEEL BAD THAT ALL THOSE GUYS ARE SO UNHAPPY.

I USUALLY WATCH THE DORIAN YATES VIDEO BEFORE I TRAIN AND GOT THE JAY CUTLER VIDEO "A CUT ABOVE" ABOUT A MONTH AGO" I WAS GOING TO GET THE MARKUS RUHL VIDEO.

I AM GLAD I NEVER MADE IT OR GOT LARGE ENOUGH TO HATE SPORT. IT'S GOOD TO KNOW THE TRUTH ABOUT THINGS....BUT IT SURE SUCKS.
