We are a very detailed society/group of people,I myself am a bit OCD(obssesive compulsive disorder) Im critical on myself, with my kids,ex wives, etc it almost consumes me on a daily basis, just wondering if its just me thats loosing it or do some of you guys battle the same way or have similiar tendancies ect.maybe its the bodybuilding culture/way of life,as we are critcal to our apperances to ourselves and how others see us?? Id like to hear some of your experiances on this.Thanx. Peace.

NYMH, you are not alone. I would not place myself in the OCD list but yes when it's contest time and the prep is on I am possesed by my mindset. Training and diet become my obessions. It prolly is not the right way to go but I find it helps to keep me going and stay focused. It's not just you. You'll see!

Training and diet wise I'm pretty strict and set in stone but anything else I'm very laid back. I think it has a lot to do with your environment and the people who surround you. This is possibly one of the reasons I've never cared to hang out with people from my gym/ some bodybuilders in general. A lot are too high strung and regimented for me with every minute detail in their life.

Well its safe to say we wont be hanging out any time soon:rolleyes: You make a good point though, the people that surround you. Well as far as the OCD/anal Im just al ittle bit of neat freak in some ways and thats annoying at times,as for the people around me 2x wives a 15 and 16 year old Id say Im a bit high strung.

I will say we each have our own limits as to how far our discipline and dedication takes us. An obsession isnt bad, if it takes you down a dangerous road, then its not. So what if bodybuilding lifestyle is my obsession, I can think of things like alcohol, drugs smoking etc that are much worse! However, bodybuilding is the most resented and most understood.

To do abnormal things, such as build a great body takes 'abnormal' modes and behaviour that the average Joe just cannot understand.

There are some great posts I have read on this forums and others on the true signs of a bodybuilder. :D Quite hilarious some of them.

obsessed is the word the lazy use to describe the dedicated. Anyways, the best bodybuilders live for bodybuilding! So of course the are obsessed or constantly thinking about it.You have to have an analytical mind constantly looking for new methods working with trial and error. Your a scientist of your own body. I think bodybuilding has only helped me in life. That always striving to be better doesnt stop at the gym or the kitchen. I apply that mindset to everything. I think 95% of this board is just like you.
