Is bodybuilding worth it?

@badguy, so you’re alive! Thought you didn’t pull through from literally throwing up buckets of blood. Glad things worked out for you, but sorry to hear that the wife has taken a turn for the worse. Best wishes to y’all!

badguy’s story…and how bodybuiilding MADE the badguy…
Born a fat German Jewish kid and tormented all my years when growing up.
Abused by mostly all the kids for being a Jew, fat and mentally slow.
Punched, kicked, locked in lockers for hours on end, broken nose, broken fingers and mentally beaten down depressed.
Bodybuilding saved me.
“And here we go” as the Joker would say:
From the fatjewboy to the holy shit won’t mess with him!

Bodybuilding gave me the armor, protection and self-esteem I needed.
Bodybuilding gave me:
1) Fame-Actor working along side Hugh Jackman, Robert Deniro and Ed Norton
2) Career-ProWrestling, Law Enforcement, Health Educator to children, Trainer
3) Love-met the love of my life..her personal trainer
4) Financial-drive a $80,000 truck, wear a $5000 watch…do I do that to impress others..NO..the Badguy doesn’t give two shits what others think!
I bought these items because it was my goal and I received them because of my look, my attitude and drive.
That’s what bodybuilding did for the badguy.
The negatives to bodybuilding..yes there were and are..with goals and dreams you must sacrifice..our time and our health!
It’s up to you!
Only you can make that decision.

Could the badguy get to all the bolded points by being skinny, fat, and depressed…you answer that!
Can badguy push his wife in a wheelchair with full-blown cancer in the airport last night with 1 arm while holding “2”30lb suitcases to make it to her flight!!?

Would badguy change his past…or present..Hell No..Bodybuilding made me and without it I would’ve been the kid who committed suicide!
fkn hell dude. That's fantastic. I love reading stories like this. BBing has given me love/girls and a little bit of money on side gigs, but not much else. Mostly its given me enjoyment and cultivated discipline. I also love eating this way and I think it's overall healthier than any other diet. Like if not for bbing I wouldn't be consuming huge amounts of fruits and vegetables year round for health and performance.

Anyone who says "bro lifting for girls doesn't work" is probably really ugly and neglecting other parts of their appearance or delusional. Being muscular and lean very obviously improves everyone's attractiveness, even if face and height are more important overall.

Thank you my friend!
Yes fully alive and here to fight the fight for cancer with my beautiful wife!

That question could be asked to anyone for anything.

Is it worth it?

It’s all the in eye of the beholder. It does me good. Its thereputic. It gives me drive and ambition. It passes the time. It feels good. Its a lifestyle.

Yeah. Its worth it.

I haven’t competed yet but I truly think if I didn’t pick up this lifestyle I would be dead. Being suicidal in the past, this hobby has allowed to find structure and stay grounded. I don’t really have the best support system but I am loving every single moment of this.

Badguy! We've missed you brother. Man, really happy you're healthy and strong again. Very sorry to hear about your wife's illness. Check your DMs.

Prayers for you and yours!

If it’s your passion I don’t see anything wrong with it . Just don’t get to caught up in it and let it come before your family and priorities . It gives you discipline and a great work ethic if you can apply it to other areas in your life .

Yes getting bigger and stronger day by day!
Time to focus on getting rid of cancer..my wife was by my side and now its time to fight her battle and be by her side!

ITS A HOBBY!
All my hobbies have been worth it, it's something I enjoy doing.
THIS!
like even IF you are top 5 in mr o i would still be actively persuing and preparing other business ventures.
bbing is tick tock cuz cant grow old doing it AND constant risk of career ending injury every time you go to the gym.
i'd also only recommend juicing to the gills if you are competing and have a chance at making $ in the sport.
otherwise, keep it sane and stop and get on trt sooner than later.

Gym is the best thing in my life.

if i don't go I end up getting into bad more unhealthy habits and mental health and life goes to shit.

Problem is the older u get the harder it gets.

Casual/lifestyle bodybuilding (although I’m very strict with diet/training) is 100% worth it for me.

Competing and being 100% locked in to be as big as possible.. not worth it. My joints were destroyed, I had zero mobility or cardio at 270+ even while lean. BP was a mess. Could barely put my seatbelt on. Huffing and puffing after every set. Waddled instead of walked. Felt lethargic all day and mentally took a hit from high doses. Only felt good in the gym.

I realized now that training is what I love most about all this, and I just want to be an animal in the gym. I like to deadlift 800 and then do 5 sets of 20 on pull-ups and just get that rush of adrenaline and intensity. I truly love that feeling more than anything else in life. I remember a video when Branch Warren was repping out high rep leg extensions at the end of a leg day and the pump was very intense, he said “this feels better than sex”. I’d say it’s at least comparable. (Different of course, I’m not cumming my shorts in the gym)

When I looked my best, my performance in the gym was the worst. I didn’t get endorphins from lifting.

Basically I just worship the ritual of lifting. Hopefully I don’t sound cheesy when I say training is almost a religious experience for me, and grounds me and sets a foundation for my life. Sometimes all I look forward to it hitting the gym

I have a lot going on now, good job, family, friends, healthy hobbies… but at certain times I’ve had absolutely nothing and the gym has always been a positive constant in my life. I can get fired, my wife can cheat and leave, but the gym is the one thing in my life I have 100% control of.
I don’t even care if this lifestyle takes 20 years off my life, it’s worth it

been a little hesitant to say much for a number of reasons but ill chime in with both negative and positive aspects.

in my life i have found exercise and pushing physical limits to be necessary, i cant even say i enjoy it all the time but i know i need it and im better for doing it. training in the gym is a relatively safe space where you can push both physical and mental limits and learn how to combine the two.

learning it use food and drugs with that can give one an illusion of being healthy or in shape rather then really being. to some extent that can be avoided by paying attention to what the smarter more diligent guys are always talking about which is blood work, blood work, blood work, healthy diet, healthy diet, healthy diet. the reality is the people who genuinely do that are the minority.

as a purist pursuit i think that the "bodybuilding" is probably not the best idea for most, i do however think that the majority of the best principals involved are highly applicable to everybody and most would served well by applying them in life. it has been a great thing to learn from both the positive and negative.

i have no regrets in this life.

For me it's always been the feeling of belonging to a tribe or brotherhood. The camaraderie that comes with being around likeminded individuals in there for the same purpose. The sounds, the smells of a real gym. The echo of plates hitting the floor. I've sustained more than my fare share of injuries and surgeries directly tied to BBing. I've developed a ton of friendships and had a variety of training partners over the years.
Some of my best friends to this day, guys I met 25+ years ago are almost all addicted to this masochistic lifestyle like I am. It can be a love/hate thing when your in your mid/late 50's and you know it's leg day but your still sore from the back workout a few days prior but you don't want to let your training parter down. You get in there and half way through he thanks you cause he wasn't feeling it this morning.lol
Was it worth it? Yeah. Would I change things if I could go back? Hell yes! Do I regret it? No.
This lifestyle has kept me out of trouble, probably saved my life.
Training is my therapy. The gym is my place of worship.

gym p4p generates the most endorphine (runners high) compared to any other sport.

competing? ... unless you want a plastic trophey LOL. Theres a reason why alot of arab bb'ers stay as amatuers then pros..

First over 1000mg on DNP and body “shutting down”, now this post… I smell troll
Whats there to troll bro? i had made a post about me using 1000mg of DNP and gave my experience on it (body shuts down esp if you dont have muscle mass to process all excess).

I don’t think that was a compliment.

Once you reach 50 posts are you going to crash and burn?

You sure seem to be in a hurry.
Im in Aus bro, i cant receive anything from sponsors.

Contacting pro muscle support is very hard as I've been trying to recover my main account montecresto, so if you can help me with that?

Check my post history. I'm a contributing member and know very well mods etc scout for rubbish and spammers.
