Can Igf make you sick?

I was listening to MD's No Bull Radio Show from 10/20. Palumbo is one of the hosts and said how one of his clients ordered some Igf for himself from China and had it tested. The results showed that it was Igf from rats!

He went on to say that theoretically, users could develop antibodies to it which could cause flu like symptoms and you could potentially develop enough antibodies to the igf molecule that it will attack your body's own igf molecules as well. It's a rare occurrence but it can happen if using Igf that's not species specific, meaning make sure you're using human Igf.

Anyone ever hear of someone getting sick from Igf?

Like most hormones that are sold to labs for research purposes there are different versions available depending on what animal-based model is being studied. This could include pigs, rats, mice, rabbits as well as humans.

All of the hormones are synthetic. They have the chemical structure of the animal-model that they are based on so a rat hormone would have a distinct chemical structure. A human hormone would have a distinct chemical structure.

Sometimes there is very little variability between the structures. Each hormone may have some type of activity if injected in a different animal.

For the most part it is no cheaper to synthesize a hormone with the structure deriving from a rat then it is a human.

There really is no cost-based incentive to sell rat IGF to someone who orders human IGF. Someone who has no scruples may do that simply because that is what they have available and so they want to move inventory by selling it off to people who won't know the difference (i.e. bodybuilders). Selling rat IGF to a lab that wants human IGF is easily detected by the end using lab.

Dave Palumbo may have identified a case where someone received rat IGF instead of human IGF. I do not know. But what I do know is Dave is not unbiased and I would be very hesitant in taking what he says as gospel. No disrespect to him but he does tend to smear all research chemicals with his his broad brush. He does have economic interests that rely on the sale of bodybuilding products. He has been part of a website that identified scamming underground labs and in the process included a great many UGLs that were known to the community to be legitimate. He has in the past sold fake GH to people as legitimate GH. Youthful indiscretion and time served in jail perhaps make those actions forgiveable. But he does have those actions in his past. The totality again makes him a less then reliable source of authority despite the fact that he has a microphone in front of his mouth.

I say these things about Dave and yet I like him. I just am very careful from where I derive a "fact".

Excellent points. One would like to believe that behavior is all in the past and doesn't reflect on who he is now but like you said, it does make him a less than reliable source.

Yes but at the same time I am willing to believe that peptides and hormones from brokers overseas who want to make money at all costs will sometimes not be what the end buyer thinks he is getting. That can be a hromone with 50% purity, a product with contaminents or even rat IGF-1 instead of human IGF-1.

I read a journal article that did a study on blackmarket Cialis from India, Indonesia & China. The Cialis from India & Indonesia were Cialis. The Cialis from China was not Cialis but Levitra instead.

This type of stuff is done fairly regularly because there is a profit to be made.

I guess it boils down to buy at your own risk because money is king and some people will do anything to make make more of it.
