if your going to perform HIT cardio you really should consume carbohydrates, so when your performing the cardio your body will have glycogen to burn, so after the cardio is finished and you have burned glycogen, what energy substrate do you think you will burn at rest? FAT! The hormonal benefit and the increased post exercise oxygen consumption should lead to more fat loss....I did over a 100 HIIT cardio sessions to get into contest shape and wound up lookin like an anorexic (not good!) I think i did way too much, MAx abosolute max for this type of cardio is around 4 times per week unless your one of those people who holds onto muscle no matter what....next season i will probably use low intensity 80% of the time and see the difference...definitely interested in hearing other opinions....
