bro we hired dennis newman at la fitness in north county SD 2008 lol, he beat phil hernon a longtime member here in the usas in 94 I believe after leukemia might i add. dennis would do shoelace sized lines of blow with our district manager chris lol

another example of wasted talent and genetics.

Probably told this before but what the hell . . .

Saw Danny working out at Gold’s 4th. St, Santa Monica (after Gold’s moved from the original in Venice Beach) a few times many moons ago. Doing nothing exotic, same stuff we all do but with superior genetics.

One day I was was was walking into the gym and Danny was flanked by Grymkowski and another bodybuilder whose name I have since forgotten. Let me tell you what . . . he was one of the thickest bodybuilders I have ever seen. Made the other two look like they never worked out; exagerating I know but not by much. Don’t know how he could move he was so thickly muscled. Beautiful and perfectly proportioned to my eyes.

thank you for sharing your gem of an experience! anyone in our shared love of bodybuilding who visits socal, paying homage to these places should be on their bucket list along with venice/muscle beach he truly was the giant killer

Damn shame. I met him here in Japan in 1997 after Zwick said he was guest posing at my show.
Seemed very down to earth and made a stunning recovery by then.

Yea, he had it all. Great looking, muscles up the wazoo. What a future. You were fortunate to have met him. Did not know he was still bodybuilding after his cancer.

I remember it here in the mid/late 80's. It was everywhere. Not many who played hard in those days are still here.
I'm in my mid 50's and only a few of us are still regularly in the gym getting high the gymdorphin
way. The "riddle of steel", it's an addiction/obsession that very few will ever understand.

Padilla was a giant slayer!
