Diet Without ANY GRAINS.

Do you think its possible to Build muscle and get lean with a diet Without Any Grains at all.


What i mean is a diet with Lean protein Chicken,fish as your only protein source.

And the only carb source would be Vegetables,Brocoli,salad,aspargus,lentils.

Fat source, Olive oil, Flax seed oil,Omega 3 fatty acids.


NO DAIRY at all.

NO Grains at all, No wheat, NOTHING.


It seem when i start a diet like this , I feel like UBER CRAP,my energy goes down the hill,its like a mental thing... I cant seem to follow it, I Crave Breads,Muffins...
 
I think there will be A LOT of people on this board that believe you can build muscle and get lean with out grains and do it themselves. :D
 
I do not think grains are necessary, but do serve thier sanity purpose in the offseason. But, I do think you need to be getting more carbs than what you put, especially if you are trying to grow. Get them from fruits or something along those lines. You virtually are going carbless to grow....which I think is pretty impossible without the primary fuel of the body...something to push the protein into those muscles!

If you eliminate grains, dairy...replace them with plenty of fruits. If you are not anal about it....keep rice and oats in the equation. I think you need to keep your calories up in order to grow, so make sure you are getting enough to suppport your metabolism. I am gonna give this run this upcoming offseason with the whole fruits, but still gonna keep rice/oats in moderation. Also, going to have a sanity meal when needed since I do like breads, but do not NEED it...damn it:D

Just remember keep those calories coming in your body to promote some growth.

Greens, fruits, glycerol and Milk are my only source of carbs and have been for over a year. Love the progress.
 
The human body cant really digest gains..and a HUGE chunk of the population is lactose intolerant.
I dont miss them honestly.

my diet is how you listed it, except i eat nuts, dairy(love cheese) and fruits. It has been working exceptionally well for me. i balloon up with water and i put fat on much faster with grains, and the muscle doesnt come on any faster for me, so i stay away for the most part.
 
1 cup of Precooked Lentils
1 cup Egg Whites
1 Egg
Hot Sauce
60g Carbs, 45g Protein, 5g Fat, 15g Fiber

Ate this all for every meal except dinner(which was a large salad with chicken) for a month straight and saw some of my best gains ever.
*And some impressive shits*
 
I know its possible without grains. I have done it!! Dieted totally different than I have ever in the past....and never felt soo good!! good luck...Mental1
 
Haven't had any grains in over 16 months now.No rice or potatoes in 10 months . But , I'm finding it hard to get my calories in now.I may add one or the other back in.
 
Find the book, "The Paleo Diet for Athletes" by Loren Cordain.

We've been following this (mostly) and haven't sacrificed anything for strength. I've actually still been making gains while very slowly losing fat.

That said, he hasn't done a lot of work with strength athletes, but is very interested in how it works for people who are.

It makes total sense to us.
