Doctor offered me HRT but declined it

Just sharing my information with other people my age that might be considering HRT.

I went to the doctor yesterday to get my test results and my test levels were 151. I am 23 yr old. Doctor offered me HRT in a creme but he highly not recommeneded it. His case is that if I started the HRT treatment today by the time I was ready to have a kid, the chances of me being able to have one would be very slim...guess I'm going to suck it up until then

. I really would like to start the creme because I stay tired as hell all the time and never feel like doing anything but guess I'll ride it out...For those thinking about HRT, think about the future as well...

Down with it

There's some guys who are fertile AND are on TRT. I never thought I could get my wife pregnant...2 kids later.

If your down with the sickness, I found it's better to get on board and really be down with it. I'm on the treatment, ain't going back.

I did the same as you. I was attacked and severely injured several years back. Lets just say it cut my chances of conceiving clean in half and maybe even more than that. I don't want to jeopardize what I have left with HRT. Although adoption is always on the table too. I am 26 yrs old now and have been this way since I was 20. I think you made a good choice.

Well, I started at about your age with AAS, and at 35 I started a family. It wasn't creme I used

Unless he specializes in fertility, I would go get a opinion from a specialist. You test count would be on the low end if you were my age. 48!

while LONG TERM use MAY decrease fertility, this is why he puts you on HCG to keep your testes functioning for said reason, if still unable to conceive later on, HMG is used to boost male fertility,,

Props for making such an adult decision, but at the same time...
Free test for life with no legal issues...
Like everyone has said, I would at the very least get a second opinion and see a specialist. Maybe this doc doesn't know about HCG and HMG?

Fertility

He ought to have a fertility test. If he's got low T and is sterile, then what's the point in suffering out the symptoms?

Phil is right

Low test levels don't mean your sperm isn't fertile... an endocrinologist would be a better person to consult in your case.

Off topic now, but to have kids you first need to find the right woman... for your own sake and the one of your child.

What if at 50 you still haven't met the good one, then look back and contemplate all these years wasted waiting for a improbable event? Don't you think you'll likely say to yourself "shit all those years I felt miserable due to a lack of testosterone, and now I feel even more shitty cause not only am I weak and scrawny but still alone"?

Envisaging the future and thinking about the possible repercussions of your present actions is a smart thing to do, but living in fear of it (= frustrated on a daily basis) is not a solution.

I am on HRT and am still fertile. It is part of the testing procedure. The doc I go to is also a fertility doc as well as a national class athlete and fertility and the testing thereof is an important part of the regime. I am getting back my new results Thursday actually.

Get a more informed doctor.

Ironman, don't go through life resigned to feel tired and bad. Get a more informed opinion. You deserve it. Trust me, I have had dealings with many doctors and you really have to take charge of your own health care

I also agree with the above posts. When it comes to your personal health, and well being, always go for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th opinions. Many people don't realize that doctors are USUALLY only educated in certain areas/fields. They've spent a LOT of $$, and a good number of YEARS to get their license. They won't advise a patient on an area they have no knowledge in...or better yet, they will give a vague answer, or advise against an action in an area they're not familiar with (without admitting their ignorance of course) to cover their ass, and their lively-hood. You can't fault them for it though, they've usually got a LOT on the line if they tell you to do something, you do it, and it messes you up somehow.
