Does Metformin inhibit athletic performance?

I am currently prescribed 500mg/day metformin. My Dr stated that I am close to being pre-diabetic and since I heard a lot of great things about Metformin I suggested that she prescribe it for me.
During the above video from Leo and Longevity he stated that Metformin causes a decrease in athletic performance.

Can anyone provide any proof or studies to back up this statement? Has anyone who uses Metformin notice a decrease in performance? And do the benefits of taking it outweigh this decrease?

Most of the big boys on GH take it like 2x a day at least on rest days (slow release) to prevent BG elevation and keep insuline sensitivity high all year round. If metformine combats the muscle growth i am assure you, probably no one would use it.

I have never seen any loss in strength or endurance from taking 1000mg a day.
What is causing you to NEED Metformin??

Are you over weight , taking something that has caused insulin resistance anything like that.

Have you tried to lower your BG and A1C with diet ??

Who exactly is "Leo Rex" and what are his credentials , he seems to have a following but the few times ive been able to endure more than a few minutes of his video he sounds like a moron , arguing with IFBB pros about what drugs do what and doses and shit.

Well, the MASTERS trial indicates that Met abrogates the adaptive shift from type I to type IIA fibers with resistance training (resulting in a tendency toward reduced strength improvements). This trial also showed Met seems to abrogate the endurance training enhancement of insulin sensitivity. It, of course, acts as an insulin sensitizing agent; the point being, it seems to blunt certain adaptations to training.

Grand scheme? If using rhGH, you should probably be using Metformin despite these very modest effects.

Metformin inhibits mtor signaling, manage insulin sensitivity with proper diet and cardio IMO

I doubt this would matter on high enough doses of GH, where metformin is probably needed regardless of diet/cardio.
