Drug test question. need help?

I have a question for anybody who has done or knows about drug tests. My brother took one today for a government job and it came up positive for methamphetamine. hes never used a drug a day in his life. he uses a ma huang based fat burner. I did some research and found that ma huang can create false positives for meth. They are gonna send it off to the lab for further testing.

My question is...can these labs that do a more defenitive test show that is was ma huang and not meth? I would assume it would since it for the government. I am worried for him since I did some research and meth users as we know use psudeoephedrine as part of thier ingredients.

i dont want him tog et in trouble for meth when he is using a fat burner. Anybody have an insight on this?? Thanks for your time.

WOW that surprises me. I was using clen and ephedrine among other things when I took my last test and nothing. I believe he can request a more sensitive test possibly Gas Chromatography / Mass Spectrometry but not sure if it will cost him out of pocket.

They could, but why would they spend the money. They just look at it as a positive and usually move on to the next canidate. Prospective employers don't care about excuses even if legit if you came up positive. Your not even their employee.

I have said this before but got shot down for it. Not all drug tests are the same. I know that ephedra, ephedrine, Mua Hung and derivitives will trip a positive for amphet on these tests. I'm afraid he can do all the requesting he likes, as far as I know mua hung is illegal now too. Any derivative of ephedrine is banned in all supplements. it def is here in OZ and I thought it was in the US too. Unless you have it on script from the GP. Like I said i could be wrong on the legality of it over there but I do know that even cold and flu tabs here return a positive for amphet in the drug tests employers do. Unless you declare it prior to the test your gone!!

oldfella...not exactly true. ma huang is perfectly legal, as is some form of ephedra. i know, there's an ECA stack on the shelf at my local supplement store.

i dont know the exact legality, but there's some law about using the leaves vs. the roots in making the product?? i dont know exactly, but i do know ma huang and ephedra are legal.

unfortunately, i dont know what to tell you ryce. i would have him talk to his prospective employer and explain the situation...but other than that i dont know what to tell you. sorry man

Thanks SV. Here in OZ it is all illegal. You even have to go through a song and dance to buy codral or tylenol cold and flu tabs here (pseudoephidrine). They record your drivers license details. How fucked up is that?? They think they are going to save the world from meth labs by doing this here in OZ. It is all a f'ing joke!!

damn OF...everything is illegal down there in OZ. you guys got it rough...i do know that there are regulations on ephedra, but ive never bought any, so i dont know exactly what they are. im sure that the efforts by the OZ government are for good reason...unfortunately i feel as though they're going about it a little differently than i would.

Yup, ECA legal in the US agian for now at certain amount per serving.

Unless you declare it prior to the test your gone!!

They always give a chance and ask if your taking and cold/flu medications , supplement etc. I have went for several and they did.I have been on ECA and it came back negative while going for a test.
