HEY TROP.. I KNOW YOU ARE DOING DC STYLE TRAINING.. ARE THE LATERALS AND FLYS A REGULAR PART OF THE PROGRAM OR WIDOW MAKERS?.. just curious as to how you are implementing them into the program..
The flys are a "widomaker" we're doing for chest.
The thinking is....if we start out using the 55's for 20 reps, and progressively add reps or weight, and in a year or two, we're using 120's for 20 reps.....our chests HAVE to be bigger.
The laterals are our "widomaker" for delts.....but they're mostly for the DVD. We don't use them in our normal training, but we wanted to add some movements for the DVD.
I don't know if they're DC approved, but if I was trying to bring up my delts, they're probably what I would add as a widomaker.
But.....my feeling with laterals is this: (and it's been said by many other people, mainly Dante) what is going to add more size? Doing 225lbs on clean and press, or doing a set of laterals?
Kevin Levrone is known as having some of the best delts of all time, and I've heard it said from people who knew him that he did VERY little, if any side delt training in his early career.
You can actually see it before he turned pro. He was lacking some side delt size.......but his freaky delt size was still there.
You don't get that size with laterals and front raises, IMO
