Alright just a quick question for you guys and gals. How many of you had that question( Do you compete?) asked and haven't competed yet or felt as though they are not ready for the stage yet. I'm just asking cause maybe in the next year to two years I may try to compete once just to get my feet wet. Maybe I belong on stage maybe not but people are obviously seeing something I don't. Personally I don't think I'm no where near ready.

post up a couple pics.....you'll get honest feedback and guidance here on this board.

take it as a compliment to your years of hard work!!!!!

lol! I remember always hearing that question "Do U Compete" from people going back at different gyms!!
if u get those kind of responses from different people in gyms that see ur body and kinda know their stuff then usually U would have potential!

I'm in that boat. I've been asked by people if I compete, but I haven't even thought of putting a foot onstage. I don't think I'm anywhere ready to try it yet either. For me, my upper body still overpowers my lower body. I've been trying to bring up my lower body, but progress has been painstakingly slow.

I think a lot of people never make it to the stage because they spend a lot of time doubting their own ability. Perhaps muscle dysmorphia plays a small part in this.

I feel like every bodybuilder I have talked too, including my damn self has muscle dysmorphia (or we just are the worst critics of ourselves). I am not gonna lie, competing for me is goal and I do enjoy competition. I choose to do so. Yes and I total agree people doubt thier abilities as well!

If you feel like you can compete and people say you have potential which I bet you do, then it is all individual choice to do so.

That may be part of it, but I really don't have a sweep to my wheels at all.

i get asked that all the time, almost every time i train. its usually the guys that do compete are telling me to do this show or that show. or someone will ask if im training for a show i think they just wanna talk to me and pick my brain they all think there's some magic way of doing things or some magic pill. i also dont think im ready, but i would like to try maybe this year...

If you are waiting til you are completely satisfied with your look you will never set foot on stage

Deciding to compete will motivate you to make your wheels bigger! You will push yourself harder than you ever knew was possible!

You will never know if you belong on a bodybuilding stage unless you stand on one. You would have to give 100% deadication to the sport, diet for 12-20weeks pull out all the stops so you know if you dont place it was not because you were not stricked enough. If your serious about bodybuilding I think it would be a regret not to have competed just the one time, to see how good you really were. You must be doing OK if people are asking you questions like "do you compete".

But at the end of the day its a personal thing that only you can answer, i wish you the best whatever you decide, but you are posing in the right place if you do decide to compete. :D

Post pics in members section you could get some good advice.

Well I have never stepped on stage ever. Dont think I'm ready but maybe for a local show. Every gym I ever went to I get asked that very question. Actually two weeks ago I was buying some supps at vitamin shoppe and this guy who was muscular, lean, and tall asked my short ass if I compete. I was shocked especially looking at his physique. Hell while living in Alaska a guy I seen in the gym decided to compete in a local show. Was he ready? Well not in my opinion but who am I to judge. But he was forever trying to convince me to just hop in the show. But I moved.

And as far as pic's go I can look at myself in the mirror, and take a photo of myself and I swear it looks like two totally different images. Maybe its just me. But truthfully I just had a mediocre bodyfat test and that alone has told me I'm not ready yet. I'm about 20% but on the road to leaning out to just see how I look. I dont think I'm too fat and definitely regular(non bodybuilders) people think I'm a big guy to them and not fat also. But knowing what a bodybuilder suppose to look like, I'm not close. Oh and I have been officially training for 2.5 years now( though last year I didnt train for about 4- 6 months due to things going on in my life).

I think everyone should compete at least once no matter what sport they are involved in. Do it for your own satisfaction.

I'm also trying to play with the amount of carbs I take. But with saying that I don't exactly measure it out. For the most part I eat green beans and or salad for maybe three to four days a week along with my protein
(Chicken, beef, bison) and the remaining days add in a little carbs. Cup of rice, sweet potatoe, oatmeal, grits etc. I eat 5 to 6 times a day and a shake before and after my workouts. One of those meals maybe a shake due to the fact I work in a resturant so its busy busy busy in the kitchen( Not Mc Donalds either). About a month and half ago I started to do 30 to 40 minutes of cardio upon waking up. Havent been doing it for 7 days out the week all the time but if not at least 4 to 3 days out the week. And sometimes I do in the morning and after workouts. Damn I'm sorry I'm writing a book. Sorry Guys!

My computer is actually fried at the moment but I'm posting through my phone. I'm going to try to figure out if I can post a pic. You know what I have a myspace page with some pics of me posing a little but dont want my unknown face out there like that.
