i just got a flatscreen and the pics i have and porns look like shit. the screen is really bright on some web pages and really dark with others. i know my graphics card is good its a gforce 128mb card. anyone else having these problems with flatscreens? im thinking about returning it and just using my old 17inch, in my opinion it looked better.

..

if you truly value picture quality go with a flatscreen tube not a lcd flatscreen..

also check to make sure your video card is putting out signal at optimal levels for the monitor...

what frequancy are you putting out... 85mhz, 75 ? what does the monitor manual say ?

i do this for a living so pm me for any help...

how do i find out the mhz? i dont have the manuel i got it on clearance. right now i got it set at 1024 x 768 60.0hz 48.4khz. thanks

..

google it by make and model and try to get instructions...

i think maybe u just got a bum monitor though...

CRT monitors stil have the best picture, but LCD's save alot of space. I work in video production, we still have a few CRT's we use, but mostly use dual LCD's for post production. The best monitor in my opinion is the 23" Apple cinema display, it displays a true HD resolution.

There's LOTS OF Cheap LCD Monitors out there!

But, you usually get what you pay for.

Here's what I'm looking for - trying to be a smart shopper (along with reason)

1) 500:1 Contrast Ratio - at a MINIMUM (800:1 is better)
2) 16ms Refresh Rate OR LESS. This is very important as it is how fast your screen refreshes. 24ms would be an absolute minimum. If it's a higher value, you can get "ghosting" from either video or games. An LCD "IS SUPPOSE TO BE" an upgrade isn't it?
3) DVI Digital Link Input Video Signal - for true digital (not analog) input. Your video card MUST have a DVI output!
4) Pixel Pitch in mm: I'd like to find something in the 0.22x to 0.24x range like you see in high quality CRT monitors. I'd get no higher than 0.26x for a 19" (that's the size I'm looking for). I see 0.29x and larger all the time. This has to do with image resolution.
5) Trying to find all these features in a monitor for under $350. Have found "most" of them in LCD's on sale for around $390. I'm not in any big hurry and when I'm really ready, I'm sure they'll be down to that price.
