For Guys that want to keep their hair Finasteride is potent and can cause sides if not dosed tailored to you

Okay so maybe I could have came up with a better title but here's some points after using it many years off and on.

It's dose dependant. If you're on 300 mgs test, then you probably need 1.25 mgs daily and okay without much sides

If you're in 159 mgs trt then maybe 0.5 is enough. Maybe 1.25 is enough.

It definitely causes my voice to be a pitch, two, or three higher. As a male with a deeper voice since age 12 and 13, I know how my voice sounds and this takes the androgenic deepness out of it. This also means it's working.

I do think there's a fine medium and it's your job to find the dose best for you.

I work around people so I take mine at night because I've taken it during the day , even during work and it kicks in and causes my voice to be higher.

I don't buy it. I'm not trying to be adversarial but if you've had a normal puberty your vocal cords only change once. Trans female->male of course will undergo vocal chord thickening. But blocking DHT does not affect the shape/thickness of your vocal cords. So what is your theory on why your voice is higher?

I could care less if you don't buy it. I know my voice range

One word dht. Finasteride lowers dht. Dht is responsible for a deep voice.

Talking with lots of guys that use in gym, some I've known since a teenager, I've always had a deeper go ce than a lot of guys and they're go ces don't get deep. So all in all of mother nature gave you a deep voice , steroids more than likely make it at its top peak. I wish I didn't have to use finasteride to lower it bc I sound more masculine but it's the trade off if want my hair. Deep voice or hair, I think there's a balance but if I had to choose one side or the other I'd rather errr on side of caution and keep my hair. That said that think of done right you can have a good mix of both and that is the whole point of this post. It just takes some expirimenting and fine timing your dose and listening to your voice.

I can tell you two days of Masteron at 10 mgs causes my voice to be like it was when I was thirteen, quite deep. More than likely bc it frees up testosterone and causes dht spike.

Exactly.

I'm on 5 mg/day because of my enlarged prostate. It ruins my sexual performance and also shrank my nuts down even smaller than they were already, but doesn't change my voice. I have no choice though. I'm taking the large dose because I have to. I want to avoid surgery if I have to.

A good example is a guy that transitions from male to female. Look at Bruce Jenner. Her voice as Caitlyn is still low like when she was Bruce. I'm not sure, but I think it's about the same now as it was before changing over. Once the chords thicken, that's about it. Now a woman changing to a man will develop lower frequency in their voice because the male hormone they take thickens the chords. You see that in a lot of female bodybuilders. If they stop the hormones, their voice does not go back to normal. Its permanent.

Exactly. I could even see the case being made for slight deepening... but getting higher pitched. No way man.

Yep. So even as a 90 year old man, your voice is much the same as when you were 21 years old. When you're old like that your testosterone levels and dht are much much lower than when young and yet the voice doesn't change.

I have to say that even when I was on a gram a week or more of testosterone and a moderate dose of tren and EQ, my voice never got any deeper. Probably if you gave a young boy a large dose of male hormones the voice would change. I don't know why, but the voice doesn't seem to change after a certain age.

A lot of this is genetic Google Lee Haney and hear him talk and Google some squeaky voice guy. Furthermore there's degrees of deepness to The voice. Even furthermore a 91-year-old male's voice is not going to be deep as say a masculine 13-year-old going through puberty. It may be not too noticeable for some but for me it's noticeable.

Maldolf have you ever thought you really don't need that that dose in the doctors are incorrect? Have you tried scaling back to say 1.25 mg if you divide that 5 mg dose in four, then got tested and see what your levels were?

5 mg is a massive dose. That would definitely kill my sex drive even 1.25 mg reduces it sometimes too much even on 20 mg a day. I forgot the very obvious clue that if your sex drive gets reduced then you probably need to cut back the finasteride. Here is where people say for finasteride is a devil don't take it it causes all these post finasteride syndrome. wrong ! it's in the dose if you cut back your dose enough and experiment and find out through your sex drive and for some your voice then you can find the most accurate dose without having too many side effects, sexual and otherwise.

Off topic this is another reason why I think DnP could work depending on the dose especially if it's lower but I'm extremely cautious with this. I was watching vigorous Steve last night he had massive side effects on he did 400 the second and third and fourth day . A lot of things are dose related. But I guess better safe than sorry, if it's not worth the risk to you.

With sexual side you can always take off a day or bumped up the testosterone dose especially if you don't have sex that much and you want to perform for that day cuz I know when my testosterone is down and my finasteride is up my DHT is low my sex drive can become pretty damn sucky. Erections may be 3/4 of an inch less and for a very short period of time. Even with Cialis. Some testosterone and a good bit is needed for an awesome sex drive, in this case, sweet monkey love.

I think definitely for those that are just taking it for hair loss, yeah play with a lower dose and see how you do. For guys like me, with prostatic hypertrophy, we need that higher dose. My doctor had me avoid it for many years but recently things started to get worse. Several times I woke up in the middle of the night to take a leak and had A LOT of trouble urinating. It barely came out. Scares the shit out of me. I was locked up tight. Taking the finasteride must have shrunk it down some because I am able to go better now. Ive been on an Alpha blocker, FLomax, now for years and now its not enough. Im taking both meds now. Even with the 5mg Finasteride I still have problems. Im pretty much screwed. I am probably going to eventually need some kind of surgery. Im just trying desperately to put off the inevitable. I think a lot of bodybuilders deal with this once they get up over 50. My problem started even younger. Id say I had issues start out when I was about 42, 10 years ago.

So if I decrease the dose it will probably allow my prostate to get bigger again. As it is now I still have problems on the 5mg.

Meanwhile I had zero hair loss really, for my age I am doing ok I think. My hair has thinned a little bit and is turning grey. That sucks, but im not getting male pattern baldness. Im 52. I got lucky there. I think id rather lose my hair then have my prostate so big.

Are you sure the body's amount of 5-AR 2 increases with higher use of testosterone? I could see more of the testosterone binding with heavier use but are you sure there is actual increase of 5 alpha reductase enzyme? My point is, if the enzyme amount stays the same, increasing the dose of finasteride in accordance with the testosterone dose doesn't seem like it would help the hair.

I'm actually very interested in this subject because I'm wondering if once the 5 alpha reductase type 2 has been inhibited, if the excess finasteride is binding to type 1 alpha reductase and that's why the congnitive effects are happening (I'm aware of the low affinity but if enough is around in the bloodstream with nowhere to go......) That's another thread in and of itself but if someone reading this has an idea about that feel free to make a thread.
