he was a thick bastard

apparently, he died of a heart attack.. a buddy of mine who photographed him many years ago thought that he may have been in his early 50's.. i had heard that he had not trained or had much to do with bodybuilding for awhile.. kinda dissappeared..he had a great physique.. :(
 
didnt the ifbb put the screws to him because he competed in nabba shows
 
WELL, he used to compete in the wabba and the nabba in europe.. he started with the ifbb in the early 80's.. very , very thick guy.. he used to train like serge nubret.. alot of reps and sets .. i have a old video of him training back, chest, and delts.. he did a lot of reps but, he was able to use a lot of weight with it.. he has very good quads ect.. as phil stated.. he tried to make a "comeback" of sorts at the noc.. then was gone again.. dont know much else besides that..
if it was a heart attack as people are saying, it is all too common thses days.. in bodybuilding and out.. we had a guy who worked in my area at work who was 47.. he was pretty athletic.. played softball..played volleyball.. ran every morning before work.. eat near perfect.. always fruit and salads.. ect.. a week ago,he left work saying that he did not feel well.. that was no big alarm since many people had left that week not feeling well.. he went home and had a massive attack.. he did not make it.. yesterday, his wife came into work to get some of his things.. she said that the doctor said, that tried to help revieve him, that his cholesterol was well over 300.. he refused to take meds for it believeing that his healthy lifestyle and good eating habits would be enough.. sadly, he was wrong..
i got back my recent tests and my liver function, kidney, trig was all very good.. my cholesterol was not bad but, really needs to come down.. and the hdl needs to come up.. not bad.. but, could be better.. so.. i have made a couple of decisions about diet.. no more.. absolutely none.. FAST FOODS.. i used to eat them way to often and that was out of convienence.. now.. i pack all my lunches and break foods.. no more fast food.. period.. not worth the money and not worth the crap that can come with them.. i am now eating way more fruits and veggies and eating only low fat sources of protein.. fish, turkey, ect.. i was eating way too much red meat.. i have always taken fish oils, niacin, ect for blood profile.. will continue.. but, i will no longer assume bulk (fat) is muscle and it is not worth the negative health benefits.. i want to get down to about 10 % percent bodyfat.. and keep it there..i have "bulked" up way too many times.. i will eat enough calories to make growth happen, but, dose anyone really need to be in the 15% range..?? and assume that it is muscle growth.. ??

"if ya cant make out what appears to be abs.. first thing in the morning.. than you are fat..period".. and i will say this one more time..IF YA CANT AFFORD FISH OILS, NIACIN, NOLVA, MULTI VITAMINS ECT, WHILE ON YOUR CYCLE.. YOU CAN NOT AFFORD THE CYCLE.. cycle using sane dosages.. but, take all the needed precautions to keep the blood in great shape.. some of thses guys are cycling none stop for year after year and never getting blood work done to see if there is a problem brewing.. never taking the needed essentials to keep the blood healthy.. they cruise on hdl's that are 10 or less for years.. what do ya think is going to happen..?? and all of it can be prevented with some smart thinking..
you can take this advice that we give.. or not.. hell.. just maybe maybe kawak's death had nothing to do with his past lifestyle.. maybe it did.. you might be the lucky one one who takes gear and never gets a drop in hdl and does not need the aids to help the blood.. you may never suffer a side effect.. get a zit or get gyno or even bloat.. so you say.. WHY TAKE THAT CRAP?.. ALL IS GOOD... JEEZ.....ANOTHER ONE. A NATIONAL PROBLEM FOR BOTH MEN AND WOMEN...AND LIFTERS CERTAINLY DON'T APPEAR TO BE BULLETPROOF.

I TOO AM FAR MORE CONCERNED ABOUT LIVING A LONG TIME THAN JUST BEING 'BIG'....AS BAD AS DEATH FROM A HEART ATTACK IS...THE ONE I HOPE LIKE HELL TO AVOID IS ....STROKE.:(

Ive been off now for quite sometime and my blood pressure is back to normal , the part that sucks is now im fat lol i can barely see my abs and dont really care which isnt like me , my diet has been fatty foods and comsisting of fast food alot , while i was on it seemed i didnt need to diet but as soon as im off BAM im a fat ass :p even my girl just the other day was like wow your fat , That last post of LATS has opened my eyes a bit , even tho im off doesnt mean im safe or outta the woods yet , Im getting a full panel check up just to make sure everything is ok cause you really never know .

My dad's endocrinologist told him that 12-15% is a very healthy bodyfat and anything lower than that(unless your an ectomorph) will cause more health problems.
 
Sad news. I wonder how is BP was most of his life. Not even 50, way too young, RIP.
 
The sad thing is 95% of us will read what LATS wrote and then never walk into the clinic to get out blood work done...or say shit that last cycle I only gained 7lbs, I need to up my dosage.

Great post Lats, I have touched on my "bad" state of health but mine is mostly centered around what you are talking about. I got my bloodwork done and had a BAD HDL reading (18.7), decent LDL (120) and my triglycerides were 62. I had one live enzyme level really high ALT (102). The funny things is that I take all those supplements and my HDL is still in the shitter so after this comp I will seriously re-evaluate everything and get these numbers up. Competing is not worth it if you have to sacrifice your health for it........There too many wonderful things that life has to offer other than trying to be "big", imo........

I agree JT. I saw my father suffer with this for 6 months and that was enough for me... He suffered the stroke due to an inoperable tumor under his brain
 
Between this post (indluding LATS info) and BN's thread, it should have been a slap in the face to many. So much of bb'ing is GENETICS, not how much or type of AAS, high amounts of Protein/food, type of workout, etc. All of these are part of the equation, but the REAL limiting factor is your genetics.

There's so much stuff out there that's just been SOCIALLY ACCEPTED - like fast food and replacing of Sugar with High Fructose Corn Syrup (read the labels - EVERYTHING is changing over to this and it's primarily been happening in the US, not the rest of the world). High Fructose Corn Syrup is not a "natural" food, it's a genetic modification from corn and probably is a real silent killer.

I too have realized that I can only "go so far." My use is 400mg test/wk w/ "some" (actually very little) anabolics; ~250-300g of "quality" protein ED, AVOID fats - all; keep total caloric intake under 3000 cals (remember I'm a small, "old," relatively inactive [other than working out] asian).

I believe I'm in the 9-10% BF range, am relatively "cut" (not afraid to take my shirt off), and after about 10 years (other than prepping for a contest) can fit back into size 32 pants. Now, I need to go get a physical!

Xcel great post and you are right on the money.
In our business (Daycare) we are required to get a physical every 2 yrs by the state. Im glad because i know i would probably put it off. I had high cholosterol a few years back but got it in the normal range by losing BF. I too was eating a lot to get big but was only getting fat.
You must accept your genetic limitations and like you said workout, eat healthy just a little over your maintenence level and take small sensible doses of supps. All the rest will fall were it may.
