Totally agree with this statement. Why drink unless you want to get a good buzz from it. I can't imagine sipping wine, the whole concept is alien to me.
I was once in that mindset too for a number of years, Although, I do enjoy a nice glass of low sulfite Sangiovese (red wine) a few nights a week. I never was much of a drinker even in my younger years 20's-30's. Stroking that 50 mark in a year and a half, I reckon I've changed my ways.
I will say it has played a positive role on my lipid profile, HDL, Lp(a), Apo-B and Apo-A1. As well as inflammatory marks Lp-PLA², hs-CRP and Fibrinogen (it's the only lifestyle change I've made, as I have blood work done up every 3 months).
