Frustrated. I’m frustrated with my workouts (both intensity and frequency), with my diet, with my jiu jitsu, and with my lack “out of the gym/off the mat’ supplemental training/stretching. I have clearly defined goals and I have the knowledge and a plan on how to reach them. For instance my fitness goals include both a strength component and a physique component. Specifically, my physique goal is to reduce my bf% from 15% to 10%. Yet despite having a clear plan to reach this goal I simply don’t follow through. I know I need to run/swim/ do cardio daily to reduce my bf% yet rather than run or swim or train jiu jitsu I’ll take a nap, watch tv, read… Fuck!!! So then I ask myself “do I really want to reach my goals? Are my goals reasonable???” And the answer is a resounding yes!

What else??? My goals are in writing, I look at them every day, I journal on my progress and my struggles, I even have a daily check list… I don’t know what else to do other than simply get off my ass… But I just don’t feel like it… I’m not depressed (I’ve examined that as well)…

So I’m f’ing frustrated with myself.

Please help.
 
For me working out and bjj, especially bjj, is about a person's ability to deal with pain. The fact that 60% of the population is overweight and obese is not because these people don't have time or don't want to lose weight, it's fact that there is a pain threshold they simply don't want to cross. Lets face facts running, swimming, lifting weights, bjj hurts both physically and mentally. Getting tapped multiple times in roll can be especially challenging mentally.

I find some people accept the pain, some ignore it and some embrace it. For me its more about acceptance. I just tell myself it's going to hurt, take it and keep moving forward. I am able to do this because as a teen some of my best friends told me I was a fat fuck. I am eternally grateful, because that has been my motivation ever since. You are going to have to find that motivating factor that makes you get up and do something painful. Until then, no amount of planning or goal creation is going to work.
 
It is easier to spend 100 hours making up a perfect plan than spending an hour executing it.
 
I think the deal is to not stop trying. What is the option? Just giving up all together and becoming like most people?

There is a saying "Success breeds success" keep at it and don't get down on yourself too much.
