Apparently 1/3 of the world's population is a descendant of Ghengis Khan.

Not sure how true or accurate it is, remember reading it somewhere.

The best and only genetic test service I suggest along with most top doctors across the US. It helped me find things I never would have in my bloodwork.

The only thing I dislike is how slow they are as they make you pay for how fast you want your results. They have a monopoly right now so can get away with it, but am not a fan of it.

I would not use 23andMe for health items personally as it’s too vague.

If you have data from them or another company you can use it to transfer it to them for your reports which can save some time.

This was how it worked for me 4 years ago - maybe it’s changed - no idea.

Companies like 23&Me will give you the raw data which will be total gibberish to you.

You will then need to get another company (Prometheus was who I used) to interpret/translate the data into info you can actually use.

Example only to make the point:

23&Me results:
Gkdnddbdbvtvrjduxejwsjdbevrnd

Secondary company:
You have 2 dominant alleles of the gene ABCD which results in a high probability and propensity for developing Alzheimer’s.

Secondary company will usually add epigenetic interventions / suggestions to help you mitigate the chance of developing said pathology. “Studies have shown that crossword puzzles, regular exercise, ditching processed bs will all decrease your chances of developing Alzheimer’s”

In other words, just b/c you are predisposed to getting Alzheimer’s, Diabetes, Allergies, Hair loss, sugar cravings —- whatever —you can control this by doing XYZ.

I found these 2 parts combined were helpful in understanding “MY” genome and what I should remain mindful of - vs guessing.

i have a friend who is a professor who works with this kinda stuff, he says its not worth spending cash on yet in regards to health etc
He says unless you just are curios if you have a brother in another country its really not worth it yet. They however workin on testing in regards to polymorfisms for better use of medicin in hospitals, so they can check before giving you something if you would respond better to another drug.

Why do you want to run genomic testing? What do you think you will get out of it?

For the same reasons anyone else would want to. Health reasons.
Finding out you MIGHT develop xyz might help you choose to do things differently or live differently, do things sooner.

Its not very accurate and there is still so much we dont know about DNA our genes and the coding of genes. Ppl are upselling it like it can tell the future.
