MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings may have finally found their quarterback of the future: Brett Favre is now a grandfather.

His 21-year-old daughter, Brittany, has given birth to a boy - Parker Brett. The little gunslinger weighs in at 7 pounds, 7 ounces.

Grandpa Brett says on his Web site that he and wife Deanna are ``very proud'' to welcome their first grandchild.

Favre has yet to announce whether he will return to the Vikings and play a 20th season in the NFL. Last year the 40-year-old enjoyed one of his best years and helped lead the Vikings to the NFC title game.

The baby's arrival was first reported by the Minneapolis Spokesman-Recorder.

The NFL says it knows of no other grandfathers among current players.

Cool.
As a Vikes fan I hope he comes back.On his worst day he is better than Tavares Jackson his backup on his best day.
One more year Brett!
The Vikings gave the Saints that game on turnovers, they beat them in every aspect of the game, but a couple costly mistakes killed them.

Man, that is freaky. Favre is my age and hes a grandfather! My kids girls are just 7 and 6 yrs old. I guess he started young! He would have only been 19 yrs old when his daughter was born then. Still in college, only a sophomore. OOPS!

Yea , but he and Deanna have been togther since highschool. Supprised it diden't happen sonner

YOud think they would have been smart and used birthcontrol! I cant imagine that it was a planned pregnancy. Maybe he knew all along he was going to turn pro and wasnt worried about supporting the baby.

Has anyone noticed today's news?

The on-again, off-again drama that is Brett Favre now appears to be on again. A trio of Vikings teammates including Pro Bowl guard Steve Hutchinson, defensive end Jared Allen and kicker Ryan Longwell flew to Hattiesburg, Miss. to push Favre to give them one more season.

Favre informed the trio Tuesday that he is, in fact, back in and will rejoin the Vikings, FOXsports.com has learned.

In addition, Favre is on the plane with the players and is heading back to Minneapolis. However, while signs point to Favre coming back, neither he nor his agent have informed the team that he’s returning. And with Favre, another change of heart is certainly not out of the question.

This latest decision is a complete switch from two weeks ago, when Favre informed teammates that he was retiring -- citing wear and tear on his body -- in text messages seen by FOXSports.com. The team however, immediately responded by offering Favre more money, and teammates reached out imploring the quarterback to reconsider or to take more time.

Although Favre has frequently gone back and forth, it was widely assumed, in the end, that he would rejoin the Vikings. That belief was reinforced on Aug. 12 when the 11-time Pro Bowler and three-time All Pro traveled from Hattiesburg to Pensacola, Fla. to have his surgically repaired left ankle examined by Dr. James Andrews.

Tuesday’s morning meeting with Hutchinson, Allen and Longwell appears to have served its purpose. Favre, who led the Vikings to a 12-4 regular-season finish and the NFC title game last season, now appears fully prepared to play a 20th NFL season.

Aloha,

Brett is in a class of his own. Watching him in last years NFC Championship game get beat into the ground over and over again, and then get up and make plays, shows the heart of a warrior. I will say his off again, and on again leaving the game is unsettling for many, myself included, however his performance last season was the stuff that makes him a true 'legend of sports'.

A hui ho,

and dont forget, marino, montana, etc etc, thats a long list to say hes the best

and there will never be another jordan in our lifetime, lebron doesnt come close, jmo

wrong conference bub

I have a love-hate relationship with my man Brett, long time packer's fan, used to love him, saw him develop into one of the best, and then all the drama started, and it's become somewhat of a soap opera, I'm tired of it, wish he would just go away. God bless brothers.

You likely wouldn't feel the same way if he was a Packer.

The only ones that tend to bitch about Favre are the people that have teams that have to play against him. No one had anything bad to say about him in Green Bay when he was there and no one has anything but love for the guy in Minnesota. If you are on the receiving end of his ass kicking then that is where the complaining starts.

He is a bonafide bad ass.

Being a long time packer's fan I feel, although I hate the vikes, vikes shoulda went to the super bowl. Farve will comeback this year. Even if he has to throw from a wheel chair :D. If he comes back NFC north is gonna be one nasty division this year.

wrong conference bub

You are right, its not like the winner of one conference has to beat the winner of the other conference to win the super bowl or anything.
