My brother sent me a disturbing e-mail today. He has been taking Deca and dbol recently and said he seems to be having some problems with his heart rate. He is taking 30 MG a day of dbol and I think 300 mg of Deca a week. He has taken both many times over the years with no problems.

He is 37, been lifting for years (former competitive powerlifter), 5'10", 240, around 12% BF. He said he has been on this cycle for about a month now. The problem is that he told me that he started feeling like he had a lump in his throat a few times a day. He then took his pulse and noticed that his heart seemed to "skip a beat" every now and then. It would beat regularly, but then miss a beat, or he couldn't detect it, then continue on normally.

Well, obviously, I told him to stop taking the dbol and Deca immediately and go see his doctor. He says he is making an appointment tomorrow.

Any idea what he is experiencing? Can the dbol be causing this or is this a probable sign of some heart problem that's been building for years?

Dbol causes this to happen to me after about two weeks use at around that dosage. I drop it and it goes away in a day or two. These days I can only take low doses of dbol, which I still find beneficial...

Im, having a prob, and Im taking the same amount this week, except I hope its allergies, but Im having nosebleeds, typically when I sneeze real hard. Not prone to nosebleeds, but it seems to have started around the same time I upped my dbol dose

"skipped" heartbeats can be either nothing to worry about or possibly serious. Have it checked.

Sounds like atrial fibrillation. he should get it checked. A Fib (as they call it)
is very common and usually not a problem, UNLESS you have it in conjunction with a very rapid heart-rate, then it can be very dangerous.

I would definitely get it checked out.

After doing some research on atrial fibrillation, that sounds like what's going on to me. My brother has always had a rapid heartbeat since he was a teenager (normal resting pulse around 100), so I would assume this could turn into a BIG problem. I'm curious to hear how it goes with his doctor.

I do have another question though. I can see how thyroid meds could cause this, but dbol? How could a steroid cause this problem? I know it's a powerful one and can have lots of side effects, but this doesn't seem to make much sense to me unless it's a combination of water retention and high blood pressure brought on by the dbol use. Any ideas?

I had the same thing happen to me on the same dose of dbol. Just like the others said it went away a couple days after I stopped the dbol but he should get it checked none the less.

What did the doctors say about him having a resting rate of 100? Doesnt really sound normal. This can happen when your ejection fraction is diminished. The heart has to beat faster to compensate for the smaller stroke volume. Good idea to get him checked out. Have they ever done an echocardiogram on him?

that lump in the throat feeling is probably acid reflux. you supposed to get that a lot on dbol. get the heart checked out though. good luck. hopefully it isnt much then some simple anxiety

From what he told me, no doctor has seemed to really care about his heart rate. They seemed to just brush it off as, "Yes, that is a bit fast". Weird, huh? Like I said, he has been that way since being a teen. His heart rate has gone up to around 130 when running on a treadmill, but typically stays in the 100-110 rate at rest. I don't think he has ever had an echocardiogram, but I'll ask him. Like I said though, as many times as he has been to different doctors, none seemed to really care about his fast heart rate.

As far as the lump in his throat, he has had reflux and said this does not feel like that. It comes on specifically when he gets the "skipped beats".

O/T

ORALS AND C17AA orals give you guys heartburn or acid or indigestion at all? me Heck yes, i have to take tons of digestive enzymes to not suffer.....

Hey Physick and Particleacc (particle accelerator?), are you guys physicists too? Just wondering based on your usernames...not too many of us in the scientific community who lift that I know of... :)

OK, so anyone have any idea WHY it is that dbol can cause this "fibrillation"?

And physicslifter, yes, I am a mad scientist of sorts. Developed an interest in nuclear physics when I was 13, got into computer and network tech work later on, then into real estate, then back into sciences with a new invention and "invention business". And I was a scrawny little nerdy noodle when I was in high school. Picture Napolean Dynamite a bit more "nerded up" and you'll have me back then. The girls used to beat me up and try to stuff me in my locker because I just wasn't enough of a challenge for the guys! Let them come screw with my 6'3", 285 pound Superman body now!!!!

bro i dont think anyone can tell you why dbol can cause fibrilations, flutters etc. .
Cause it generally doesnt directly. I have never heard of something like that. Didnt u say ur brother took it many times before and nothing has happened.

The only indirect explanation would be DBOl raising your lipids and then you getting atherosclerosis and that puttin stress on your heart. but thats a long process.

secondly check if its definitely dbol and it comes from a legit source.

Oh sometimes on AAS people get anxiety which equates to lots of palpitations. but never experienced fibrilation

But just go to the doc and get ur cardiovascular system checked out.

Could be PVC's or PAC's cause by electrolyte abnormalities. More specifically Potassium and/or magnesium. When your on cycle your metabolism is amped up, may need to supplement some electrolytes. Just my to cents.

That is the feeling I got when I had my initial heart attack. It felt like I had something caught in my throat. Later on it did feel like heartburn.
