No need to use heat to sterilize, the whatman filter will do that. You probably caused some oxidation in the TE by heating it to such a high degree. The heat should merely be used to facilitate faster "mixing".
So.....using a whatman filter will totally sterilize gear? Is this something that should be done with every vial just to be on caution's side? I have wondeed this for a while. I usually just pin what is in the vial but I sometimes worry that maybe I should sterilize just to be on the safe side.
Suggestions....
I'm currently using some stealth products. It doesn't hurt immediately but does ball up in the glute and is sore for a couple of days. Will heating it help?
Most people missed the point of my original baking post.
there are endotoxins as well as mycoplasma will get through a .2 um filter.
.
Agreed, the BA is what kills the bacteria also not the heating. The heating is just an added precaution..Endotoxins are so rare-if the given person is baking in a clean environment. How many people have Ecoli O157 or shigella roaming around on their clean kitchen countertop? Yes-all mollicutes and virons would fit thorugh a whatman filter, but unless you have access to an FDA certified clean room, whatman filter is the safest way to go. Baking your gear-dry heat sterilization would be generally ineffective on microorganisms that lack a cell wall anyway.
