:::sorry for the repost, but i thought i would get more/better responses here:::

i have had crohn's for the past 8 years (im 21 now). this past march i had a small bowel re-section because none of the medications worked anymore. my bowel was leaking and caused an abcess.

it is now months later and i've never felt better. but i have read some articles here and there about HGH with crohn's patients and how it can keep people in remission and just promote a better since of well-being and healing of the intestines.

how can i go about talking to a doctor about this? i do not have a primary care physician, but i do have a gastro doctor. what sort of questions should i ask?

thanks all for any responses!

I did a search for you on pubmed and the only thing that came up was

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez

according to the article, the person using HGH and had crohns disease ended up with HIGHLY MALIGNANT colorectal cancer.

This makes sense since in crohns disease since ur colon is inflammed. and constantly inflammed tissues are at a higher risk of malignant transformation (for eg. people with chronic GERD, are at a higher risk of esophaegeal carcinoma since there esophagus is constantly inflammed from the stomach acid.) Now adding HGH to this allready inflammed tissue which is the first step for malignant transformation might be like adding fuel to the fire.

If I were you I would not take the risk, and there is no way your gastroeneterlogist will prescribe you HGH for this. Just because HGH is synonym to positive things in BBing industry doesnt really mean it would help with colitis.

I would think AAS might be more helpful then GH to hold on to your muscle mass and things like that. Good luck

once again my advice, dont mix HGH with Crohns please.

Keep researching. HGH may well be a very viable treatment for Crohns disease while have less potential for side effects than remicade.

I'd talk it over with your MD and provide him any info you can find,,,however from what ive just read,,I'm not sure I would use HGH if i were you.

HGH and treatment of crohn's

I had to chime in when I saw this. I have Ulcerative Colitis and have used all kinds of gear in my quest to get my pro card.
I will not make this a long one, I have used Gh since being Diagnosed with my disease and every time I use it I would have a flare up. But, I would deni the GH as being the cause. This last flare up made me come to realize that the GH is the reason I come out of remission and have the flareups.I started the Gh and with in two hours I started bleeding. Now every article that I have read about Gh and Crohn's and Colitis, always says that the GH is good for rebuilding the mucosa lining. I may have a different reaction then most but that is what happened to me. Last week I was at the Cleveland Clinic and they told me that I had severe Ulcerative Colitis, When I told them about the GH they were dumb founded, and said stop taking the GH.I am doing 4 weeks of what the Dr. wants me to try(rawansa and hydro-cortisone enema 3 times a day and asacol) and If no luck I am getting my large intestine removed and my rectum, same surgery as Mike Francios. I am tired of fighting a battle that I can not win.
Thanks
