Hip flexor injury?

Ok so heres the situation, about 3 weeks ago i was doing squats. Now i didnt really stretch out all that much, but i usually dont. So im going up in my sets till im doing 455lbs for 4, on my 4th one i get this sharp shooting pain in my hip. Well im pretty sure its my hip flexor. Anyways the pain has been there for about 3 weeks since the date of the injury and not gone away. I havnt tried icing or heating, i just thought maybe it was aggrevated and would go away. Anyone have this happen before or any suggestions as to what it could be or what i could do to make it go away?
 
Where?

Can you say a bit more about the location of this pain?

If you drew a line from where it starts to where it ends, where would this line go? For example, across the glute, inside the thigh?

Do you have low back pain or tightness on both sides, or just one?

Or do the hamstrings or quads have pain or tightness?
 
I HAD THAT SHIT HAPPEN!

IF IT IS WHERE THE HIP FLEXOR MEETS THE QUAD....IT WAS THE TENSOR FACIA LATA IN MY CASE. I WAS SQUATTING WITH 500...WAS COMING UP WITH THE 3RD REP AND BAM....SHARP PAIN! IT FELT LIKE SOMEONE KICKED MY RIGHT LEG OUT FROM UNDER ME. MY LEG TURNED BLACK AND BLUE ALL THE WAY DOWN MY OUTTER QUAD AND I LIMPED FOR TWO WEEKS.

I KNOW SOME FOLKS SAY DON'T STRETCH. I DO NOW.

ALSO.....WHY DIDN'T YOU ICE IT AND TAKE ANTI INFLAMATORIES? THERE IS A REASON THEY TELL YOU TO DO THAT! HAHAHA...............GO TO THE ACTIVE RELEASE TECHNIQUE SPECIALIST IN YOUR AREA. IT REALLY HELPS.

MY HIP FLEXORS ARE REALLY TIGHT AND MY GROIN MUSCLE WERE WEAKER. MY OUTER QUAD FROM THE HIP FLEXOR DOWN FEELS LIKE A STEEL BAND....TOO TIGHT. I WORK ON IT NOW. :)
 
Common sense, any trauma to a muscle tells you to ice it. This is the first thing that you should have done. Relax and take it easy for a few days and see where the range of motion is. At this point if it isn't any better then get it looked at. If it is better, but not 100% I would look into a massage or even some therapy like ART. It works great for everything. If it is the hip flexors or something within that area your going to want the inflammation and any "scar" tissue broken down and removed. Make sure to stretch better before and after. Many don't believe in it but it works.

Dad- theres not really a line that i can draw, it hurts just in one small area right were my hip connects to my groin area, but im almost sure its the hip flexor. No other pain anywhere else, not in lower back or nothing. The only time it does hurt is if im descending in a movement, such as squats, lunges, etc...
Jethro- i didnt get any bruising and not really much swellilng either its just painful, however i was able to bear through the pain yesterday and do leg presses, reverse hack squats, and leg extensions. Reverse hack's hurting the worse because they resemble the squatting motion. Im gonna try icing it today and a friend of mine has anti-inflammatories, so i will start that soon.
Armageddon- thanks man, yah i only do legs once a week so i dont hit them for another 6 days, in the mean time il try icing and massaging it myself.
