HMB

i personally never noticed any real gains or any better recuperation from hmb
 
I must have spent thousands of dollars on bogus supplements over the years and HMB is always the first to come to mind when somebody asks. A complete scam!

I too have never seen any benefit from using this stuff. When it comes to supplements, I stick to the basics. A good multivitamin, glutamine, creatine, and a few others. No need to try to get fancy. I still refuse to buy NO products. I mean don't get me wrong, I liked what I got from NOXplode, but it wasn't something I felt I just had to have before I trained each day.

Take the money you were gonna spend on that garbage bulldog, and go to the grocery store instead.
 
I will admit that I was one of the idiots that fell for this back when Bill Phillips was advertising it so much. Useless. Live and learn I guess.
 
Thanks for the advice guys , it really comes in handy, that is why i love the site you get the TRUTH and no B.S. unlike other places:)
 
I was in my early years of working out, and I read all that stuff on how great HMB was. I was a little green about supplements also, and was going to buy some. The stuff was so expensive, I said, F' that.

A bit later I came across a store that had some HMB on sale, plus it was like the jumbo size bottle and within like 5 months of expiration. So I bought a big bottle of 120 caps at 500mg each for like $10... I bought a second one also.

I used it at 1g/day, up to like 4g/day, and that with whey were the only supps I was using, and honestly I think I put on some size quickly. I only used it for about a month or so then stopped. I went to use it again later on and found it did absolutely nothing. I have never tried it since.

I have read in a few more recent writings on HMB, that it may offer some help in recovery for 1st time weightlifters. Experienced weightlifters seem to have no positives from using it.

So all in all... much of the info on it is just the usual hype.

That's my story...
 
HMB is just a very expensive metabolite of L-Leucine. Just take 5g of L-Leucine and be done with it. It can be easily found on the internet for approx. $15 for 500g. L-Leucine is a proven anabolic / anti-catabolic & insulinogenic amino acid.
 
The best supplements to take are as follows, good healthy eating (diet) cardio, water intake, PROTEIN, multi-vitamins and finally hard training. Most supplements out there are worthless bunch of hyped up commercialized products that actually dont work. Stick to the basics and you will be fine. Good luck
