Hormesis. We Are Walking Pharmacy/Pharmacopeia

"regarding hormesis what are some of the instances humans experience via morning sun exposure, sunlight, and moonlight, and what hormesis or physiological or biological changes happen to humans, including epigenetic"

Hormesis is the adaptive response of cells and organisms to moderate stress, which can have beneficial effects on health and longevity. Exposure to various types of light, including morning sun, sunlight, and moonlight, can induce hormetic responses in humans, leading to various physiological, biological, and epigenetic changes.

Morning Sun Exposure

  1. Circadian Rhythm Regulation: Morning sunlight exposure helps regulate the circadian rhythm by influencing the production of melatonin, the hormone that controls sleep-wake cycles. This can lead to improved sleep quality and overall health.
  2. Mood Enhancement: Exposure to morning light increases the production of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that contributes to feelings of well-being and happiness.
  3. Vitamin D Synthesis: Ultraviolet B (UVB) rays in morning sunlight stimulate the production of vitamin D in the skin, which is crucial for bone health, immune function, and inflammation regulation.

Sunlight Exposure

  1. Hormesis through UV Radiation: Moderate exposure to UV radiation induces the production of protective molecules like melanin, which protects against DNA damage from UV rays. This can enhance the skin’s resilience and repair mechanisms.
  2. Improved Immune Function: Sunlight exposure can enhance immune function by increasing the activity of T-cells, which are vital for immune response.
  3. Cardiovascular Health: Sunlight exposure can help lower blood pressure by stimulating the production of nitric oxide in the skin, which helps dilate blood vessels.

Moonlight Exposure

  1. Subtle Light Cues: While moonlight is much weaker than sunlight, it can still influence circadian rhythms by providing subtle light cues that can affect sleep patterns and melatonin production.
  2. Psychological Effects: Moonlight has been associated with various psychological effects, such as enhancing mood and potentially influencing sleep quality, though these effects are less well-documented and understood compared to sunlight exposure.

Epigenetic Changes

  1. Gene Expression Modulation: Light exposure, particularly UV light, can lead to changes in gene expression. For instance, UVB exposure can activate genes involved in DNA repair, apoptosis (programmed cell death), and cellular proliferation.
  2. DNA Methylation: Light exposure can influence epigenetic markers such as DNA methylation. For example, vitamin D produced in response to sunlight can modulate the expression of genes involved in immune function and inflammation through epigenetic mechanisms.
  3. Histone Modification: Light-induced stress can lead to modifications in histones, the proteins around which DNA is wound. These changes can affect gene accessibility and transcription, contributing to adaptive responses at the cellular level.
In summary, various types of light exposure induce hormetic responses that lead to beneficial physiological and biological changes. These responses can improve mood, regulate circadian rhythms, enhance immune function, and even lead to epigenetic modifications that contribute to long-term health and resilience.

now i want tto know about all of the epigenetic changes humans can experience from environmental stimuli, this is beyond fascinating and what is a histone! stay tuned..

man i must have been on a good one I don't remember posting this 🤣 when I saw notification I saw thread name and thought "that sounds very interesting or like something I would write"
low and behold

36 going on 50
side note I am off probation today after 4 years of HELL!!!!!!!!!!!! FREE MAN.

Congrats 👍

thank you so much! it hasnt sunk in yet, I have been on probation /parole basically since I was 18 and I'm 36 now holy christ. I am moving to texas soon so all my texas bros anty up! I look forward to linking/networking with you all and hopefully can uplift your life in some way shape or form.

like transdermal? you could in theory brew one yourself brother, good old DMSO, although I belive there has to be a better more advanced carrier than DMSO after all these years
Phlogel, they also have a Phlogel Ultra which iirc actually has better absorption rates then DMSO

congratulations brotha!
thats a big relief!

good info in this thread.

an interesting tidbit. ket is mentioned previously in this thread. a while back i was talking with an interesting older guy, he was pretty well respected phychiatrist in the part of the world were he was from. older now and sort secretly suffering effects of alzheimers told me the name of a medication that he was using to treat himself. i didnt know it so looked it up, still no idea but looked at how it worked, nmda agonist, that worked on dopamine and serotonin. used to increase memory. there is actually a fair bit of info on it. the thing that jumped out at me was how it worked, basically it was ket, in pill form with a longer half life. i say to him thats basically like k! lol
his reaction was what you might expect from an older well respected normal doc.
which i just chalked up to his mental issues as its basically the same shit, some some small differences.
either way, its very interesting how all this gets skirted and we play up effects of one and downplay the other based on social stigmas.
drug was axura (memantine)
just more interesting info on brain/memory and all this.
;)

In regards to the generative AI contextualization. That's not necessarily a true statement about the protective effects against cancer. HSPs can play a big role in the development oncogenesis. As well, resistant to cancer treatment.

One of my cell bio professors, when he was an undergrad had the pleasure of working alongside with Ferruccio Ritossa. Ritossa was the brains behind the serendipitous discovery of heat shock response. Long before the findings of heat shock proteins, in later years. Ritossa was a geneticist researcher at the University of Illinois (my alma mater) for a few years.

On the topic of chaperones and co-chaperones - sHSP (small heat shock proteins [co-chaperones]) and HSPs (larger heat shock proteins). For the sake of basic understanding, not all HSPs facilitate in the same manner. Similar, not precisely the same. Smaller HSPs help the structural formation of larger HSPs to carry out the realigning of misfolded proteins, translation—bitch-slapping ROS within the endoplasmic reticulum and mitochondrion, along with other quality control measures within multiple organelles. That's the small of these subcellular badasses.

You had mentioned, niacin pre-workout. Different nutraceuticals and pharmaceuticals can induce changes in HSF (heat shock factor) and HSRe (heat shock response element). Some having a more profound fallout on subcellular thermoregulation, ultimately, either inhibiting or inducing HSRe->HSP response. This is coming from scant in-vitro and equally, in-vivo white papers that have been pushed in our faces. Translatable...? We'd like to high-hope anticipate all to be highly plausible.

However, the niacin you're taking pre-workout in anticipations of awakening AR- HSP27, 70 and 90, if that's the premise? You may have taken another nutraceutical a few hours prior that may negate niacin. Take a peek at quercetin and berberine's effects on AR interactions with--HSPs --thermoregulation. This is one example of quite a few.

Over the last few months, some may have seen most of my posts have be lined around unfolded protein response (UPR)- ER stress (endoplasmic reticulum stress). Along with bilayer lipid membrane integrity. HSPs all play a pivotal role in all that gibberish I painted out in those commentaries.

really? my mentor studied with dr mercola who I was under the impression was the godfather as he detoxed all the 911 first responders for fed gov during that era, I shall read more !thank you stewie

Not discrediting Dr. Roots philosophies. Wasn't Dr. David Root the individual involved with detoxification of 911 responders?

Meant to link this earlier. You can access the full literature via downloading a PDF

A Quercetin Containing Supplement Reduces Niacin-Induced Flush in Humans

Just be conscientious of keeping in mind some seemingly beneficial nutraceuticals may put the brakes on another.

I’m pretty sure that wasn’t Dr. Mercola. He’s done many things and taken heat over the years, but don’t believe that was one of them.

He has recently just fired his entire executive and marketing team though (along with other things) because his psychic told him to. Not even making that up. 😂

Good thread- there’s a lot of solid information in here.

well, everythign comes full circle@ excellen thread and excellent info
