I'll be fighting in a submission grappling tounrnament next weekend, my goal is to come in at 183lbs. I'm around 184-185, I need some tips on shedding a couple pounds of water weight. Anybody have any tips?
If your weigh ins are in a couple days, I would do what PHIL said, but if your weigh ins are in a couple hours, I would spit in a 24oz cup and fill it...and sit in a sauna and use a credit card to squeegee the sweat off of your skin...this will allow you to sweat more and lose more water weight. iF you are fighting in a couple hours after weigh ins, I would not do that spitting method or sauna method. You will not have the energy.
1 ampule of Lasix 20mg will make you drop up to 10lbs of water. But as mentioned by someone else, don't do that just before your fight, as you will not have energy to fight after that.
What's the point of losing 1-2 lb?... Is 183 a wt. class cut-off?... Losing water weight by dropping carbs, taking diuretics, screwing with sodium etc. has the potential to screw up your performance during your match. If its a matter of appearance(?) 1-2 lb of water won't change much...

Yeah 183 is a weight class cut off, if I come in at 183 I'll be at the top end of the 163-183 class. If I don't I'll be in 184-204 class, I'll cut the carbs and see what happens, thanks.
