I got kicked out of a BUFFET !

I went to all you can eat buffet at a restaurant in my area with several friends of mine. We are all BB and we were hungry. The deal as you can eat as much as you can eat but can't take food home. We paid $ 35 (includes soda) . We went for the Lobster/ Shrimp / Crab legs. I had 8 Lobsters and was honestly stuffed and was approached by the manager and was told we had to pay and leave. I asked why? We were quiet, respectful and ate the entire contents on our plates. The Manager said we ate to much and he was loseing $. I told him " All you can eat means all you can eat" He said he will call the cops if we didn't leave. I said I would leave but not pay since he violated the "all you can eat adverisement". The cops came and tried to get us to pay. I politely stood my ground and said I would be happy to pay if he would let us eat more. IF he wants us to leave before that.. I am happy to leave but will not pay. The Cops sort of agreed with us but didn't want to piss off the owner of the restaurant. We ended up leaving without paying and the cops didn't arrest us etc. Other than the rude service it was the Best free meal I have ever had." 8 Lobsters, several Crab legs and Shrimp scampie." Oh yes . There was a card at the table with a penny attached to it. IT said " a penny for you thoughts". I told the place "Best free meanl I have ever had"

This is a great story, good for you and screw those bastards, lol. They should have just left you alone.

But he was right - HE LOST MORE MONEY THAN HE THOUGHT, the idiot.

Oh, and this is what I think the 911 call sounded like:

Moron Owner: "Hi, I need you to come get these big guys out of my buffet."
911: "Ok, what seems to be the problem?"
Moron Owner: "They're eating too much."
911: "Well, this is a 'buffet' sir, correct?"
Moron Owner: "Correct"
911: "And the problem is what exactly?"
[Moron Owner thinks about it, comes up with new plan]
Moron Owner: "THEY REFUSED TO PAY FOR THIER BILL!"
911: "Sending someone over now."

Sounds strangely similar to a Simpsons episode where Homer gets kicked out of, coincidentally enough, an all you can eat seafood buffet. He ended up sueing using Lawyer Lyle Lanley (edit: Lionel Hutz was the lawyer, Lyle Lanley was the con man that sold the monorail to springfield, both played by Phil Hartman hence the confusion.). Something to think about...lolz

It was tricky situation. The owner really wnated us to pay up and leave and stop eating. He really didn't want us to leave without paying. He did aske us to leave but if we left he could call the cops and say we "chewed and screwed". It would have looked bad for us. I felt it was best to wait for the Cops or to be allowed to eat some more by the owner. I have to be honest that my frieds and I were 95 % full. The bill would have been 4 times $35 plus tip = $140 plus tip. The waiter person simply fills emty glass and emties the plates full of lobster shells. I also have told eveone I know about this and I am a Organizer for little league and kids baskletball etc. MOre people listen to me that the average person. I think the owner was in a bad mood and didn't know how to back down. He ended up loosing $ 140 plus looking like a fool to the community. Word spreads like wildfire in my town.

If I was in a pissy mood (which I usually am on a diet), I would file with the city against his resrtaunt for false advertisment. It makes him look extremely bad, and give him more trouble than he wants.

I actually did it once against the owner of a gym that I was a trainer at. The owner was a dumb b*tch, and had a power trip. Not to mention she made racist comments to the employees tat were not white, and hit them...yes hit them. The city ran an investigation, and from what I hear now she is losing the gym.

here's the only problem I have with this story....did you have a waitress? If you did you stiffed her out of her tip and she did nothing to you and most restaurants make the waitstaff pay if people don't pay their bill. This might have been different in this circumstance but you never know. At the very least someone got stiffed.

what a dickhead.... any restaurant owner that operates a buffet should KNOW that people are going to come in with enormous appetites. i like what you did in that situation. you were 100% in the right.

but if he were to have let you eat more instead of just let you go without paying...i would be wearing of the quality of the food you got after such a confrontation. i make sure that if i have anything negative to say at a restaurant, i ALWAYS wait untill AFTER i get my food!

You sir are a king among men. My friends and I go to an all you can eat sushi place...and they dont ask you too leave but the sushi starts to look more and more like giant balls of rice the more you eat. The fish magically starts to disappear

I admire you for sticking to your guns and not paying like a bunch of little bitches when the cops got there. You were in the right. It would be one thing if you camped the restaurant for an unreasonable amount of time but I assume that wasn't the case.

Yes maybe they're losing $ having you as a customer but that's something they should accept because they also get customers like my mom who barely eat anything and pay the full price. If they lose me as a customer it's not my money they'll lose, it's the money of my relatives who pay but don't eat. Bottomline, all you can eat is all you can eat, and they should just raise the price if they find themselves losing money.

I owned a Bar & Grill for awhile and used to run all you can eat wings for 9.99 One day this guy came in and ate 275 wings. He was there 4 hours and took 3 shits.
I arrived around 6pm and my partner filled me in on what was going on. I went over and sent his ass packing. All you can eat doesn't mean spend the day trying to beat the worlds record. Not only that but I made sure his ass new he wasn't going to do that shit again. Now if he would have ate all that in an hour I would have been fine.

So at this time I was a little edgy cause I was on Tren and found out the guy was a friend of my cooks and they had him come in and do it to fuck with me.
Fuckers....I did laugh later though.

We tipped the waitress 15% even though she was 75% siding with the owner. By giving her a 15 % tip we were making a statement that we were not out to rip off anyone. We were not there any longer than most folks. We were simply eating instead of talking. WE got up and got the food. The waitress brought drinks and cleared the dishes full of lobster shells etc. We were polite and used manners. I myself was a Restaurnat MGR for a large sit down chain 20 years ago and know how to treat people. The owner should either raise the price of the buffet or figure out how much $ he is really making. I saw a lady there who had chicken and only ate one plate. She paid $ 35 for the same meal so the owner clearly made profit off of her. IT evens out. A deal is a deal.

I now service Medical equipment and sell service contracts. Some folks break even. Some lose $ (there machine never breaks) and some clean me out (they have an a old machine that they use often and breaks. IT averages out. I no longer sell contracts on Old equipment that they beat me on. However, for the year of the contract they beat the hell out of me till the contract expires. I don't say 1/2 way into the contract " Hey I spent $$ fixing you old machine and you will no longer get service. IT is MY PROBLEM

I went to Old Country Buffet before and these kids told the guy at the door that they were leaving but wanted to come back. I thought it was funny, they expected to come back and eat there all night.

We have a buffet here at one of our casinos that has all you eat crab legs, lobster and tons of other good stuff. I think it was even less than $35.00. The wait is an hour+ to get in. They don't tell people they have to leave, the owner was clearly wrong to do that.

WELCOME TO MY WORLD!

# of buffets booted....FOUR

Most of the time i eat a little more than a normal human (ok alot more haha), but every so often i get in my zones. Heres some stories if i can remember correctly.....

First one really wasnt a BOOT, it was more of a "we are going to piss you off til you leave". It was self serve beverages...however a guy with a pitcher was positioned at my table and would pour my glass full after EVERY sip. If i had full plates of food, i got up...GONE when i got back...EVEN if i told him not to touch them i wasnt done. They LEFT my empty plates....

I had gone in around later afternoon and was informed that it was changing from lunch menu to dinner menu, so i had to pay again or leave at this this time. I left.

One time they were staring us down BAD and circling our table. We were told that we were not allowed to stop eating at any point or we had to leave. No breaks basically haha. My idiot friend picked up a tray trying to be funny and acted like he was bringing it back to the table...at which point we were booted.

I was told that i had exceeded the time limit and that it was considered more than one meal, so i had to leave.

FUNNIEST ONE:
This was about 6 months ago, maybe shorter. Well my gf who i have been with for over a yr had yet to go to a buffet with me hehehe. SO i start bringing back plates of food to the table and begin eating. The empty plates start piling up. Now i like a selection when i go, so i could at any time have 3-5 plates sitting on my table with diff stuff on it, but i always clean them. She was getting PISSED because she said every time i got up it looked like she was eating all the food and everyone was staring at her. At times before the waitress came back there would be like 4 plates piled empty plus my full ones i was eating. I probably average 15+ plates of food (no, i dont pile it on, i neatly separate everything) and i try to drink only water, cuz soda calories fill you up quick. She was sooooo mad when we left calling me disgusting and a pig and she cant believe i eat like that and everything else you can think of haha.......she refuses to go again with me EVER
