interesting story but it makes me wonder whether or not i would be happy living that long. Being active is such a big part of my life and to be alive for so long with such limitations i cant say that id be able to be happy. I certainly would never allow my children to take a pill which would slow their growth, as the article says this may the way of the future...just curious as to what u guys think about article

This is certainly an interesting article.

I've often wondered what it will be like when I can't work to put on more size or strength or quickness or whatever because I am too old and there is no hope of reaching a goal. I strive on goals, so maybe I can change that over to financial or intellectual goals instead.

As for the article, this has serious implications. The rate that the human population is increasing is huge and if people live to be over 100 this world is going to get too crouded very soon.

I think there is somewhat of a moral delemma here; Do we want people to live extremely long whilst completely unable to take care of themselves and be a massive drain on society, or is the duration of people's lives more important no matter what their condition? I'm not going to take a side on this arguement though because I see people getting very personal about it.

Anyway thanks for the article, there's a lot to think about there.

a great point that i hadn't really thought about. i had heard a fact not too long ago on the discovery channel that for every person on the planet to live the lifestyle that the average american lives, it would take the equivalent of three earths to provide the natural resources.

I may change my mind when I get to this age;) but I think that I would rather go out at around 75-80 this way I still have time enough to enjoy retirement but not old enough to be a burdon to my kid.

can't compare

you can't compare the physical abilities of the present day 80 year old to somebody that will be 80 in the year 2090. that person will be able to perform like a 40 year old today. unfortunately as far as population overcrowding i fear some natural or man made catastrophe will thin the herd significantly in the near future.

I think you are absolutely correct on this… but I hope wrong. It will not be pretty either way.

maybe it will come down to survival of the fittest...and thats us muahahaha

If I still lived a quality life with little medical issues it would be great,,but if in poor health and just 'kept alive' through medical means,,,I will pass.

they had a show on HBO recently A CENTURY OF LIVING. with people that were all 100 or older and the changes they had seen in their life time were amazing to say the least. and most thought there are far more amazing things to come.if your with it and in good health why not.
