i had a slight injury to my chest happen when doing close grip bench. did not seem like anything major at all. so a few days later it was chest day and i was a little worried. i started warming uo slowly, like 3 or 4 sets with the bar only ( we use the smith on flat bench). felt ok.
so i go to 135/15 reps, felt good but i felt a little tingle in my shoulder and neck. 225-10, when i stood up my chest felt fine but the shoulder and neck was more noticeable. 275 on the third rep i felt something give in my left pec. iracked the weight and stood up and when i did the pain in my neck all the way up to right behind my left ear was un bearable.
after a trip to the emergency room and an ortopediac, the good news is there is no tear. the best explanation i could get for the pain in my shoulder neck, and my not being able to really move my left arm was that i over compensated for my sore chest with my shoulder and strained a nerve. anyone ever here or do this? i have taken a week off and can still barely lift my 6 mo. old son. although there is some improvement, it is slow. any suggestions please? i really need to be back in the gym. by the way i am 35, and my shoulders are always kinda brittle anyway. thanks. oh yeah, my trap was really swollen too. the doctor freaked out when he saw it.
