Anyone knows anything about insurance broking?...

I know a guy that has an insurance broking firm (is that the right word?).
And he asked me if i was interested to start work in his firm.

I dont really know anything about it, except that his job seems to take up most of his time.
i got a regular low paid 9-5 job right now... have some business ideas but if they fail i would be stuck with shit jobs.

I guess its a no brainer and i should go for it!... but i dont know... its better pay but also alot more work it seems...
 
I'm guessing you mean a broker.

I sold life insurance for 3 years and had some fun, made pretty good money considering I started when I was 20.

Some things to consider;

1) Hours: You will be working nights and weekends with lots more time spent during the day on the phone

2) Leads: This is the biggest thing for the INS industry IMO. We had a great lead program, so this was a non issue for me.

3) Fuel costs: You will likely be driving you own vehicle upwards of 100 miles per day. gas costs quite a bit more now then when I was working.

4) Commission: I would venture a guess that this job is 100% commission. Personally, this was the ticket for me. I started when I was young and got used to it. However, if you are used to even a lower income, you will likely be without pay for the first several months. Do you have enough set aside to make your bills?

There is a pile of money to be made doing insurance work. However, like most sales jobs, 10% of the people make 90% of the money. You have to be great at what you do to make six figures. Good luck either way!
