leg extensions . . . do they make you sore?

Before you laugh at this question, please take a moment
to read this post.

I'm not a big fan of leg extensions. When exercising
my legs, I prefer compound movements.

But one thing I have noticed, is that when I have
performed leg extensions (which is infrequently and usually
only to warm up my knee joints; never heavy or with a
explosive movement) they do not make me sore. It is about
the only exercise I can recall ever having performed that does
not induce muscular soreness.

The only way to know for sure to try this . . . after a week
or two layoff, do leg extensions; nothing else for your legs.

Do as many sets and reps as you like. Do forced reps, negatives,
rest pause, super slow. Do them, until you can't walk, I don't care.
Do anything you want as long it is the only exercise you do for
your legs. (Yes, I have done this.)

And then tell us if you get sore. I doubt if you will.

Tired and fatigued the next day: yes. Muscular soreness: no.

Funny, I usualy only get sore when I do leg extensions. Squats just dont hit the quad directly enough to tear it up like extensions do. But I like to do them with drop sets, starting very heavy, dropping maybe twice till the weight is pretty light and Im putting a lot of emphasis on the contraction.

Just goes to show you people are all different.
 
Yeah,they do make me sore.I never do them heavy anymore.Not since i saw my Training partner pop his kneecap off doing them ! I do 4 light sets before Smith Machine Squats and Leg Presses.I squeezed in a quick leg workout on the last day of my vacation,and just did 10 sets of extentions.Legs where sore the next day....
 
I do them after im done with squats. 10,10, 2, 20

One set of 10 reps, heavy weight.
Another set of 10 reps, heavy weight,

Heaviest you can get for 2 reps, strip the weight and bang out 20.

How do you you know it's the leg extensions
that are making you sore if you do them in
combination with other leg exercises?

Just a thought . . .
