start with low doses and increase them only when you hit the wall - the same when you stop training - you don't go straight to 300kg in squats and 20 sets per muscle group, you just start slowly and gradually move forwardluki can i ask you something

My liver enzymes have been high for 27 years now, my doctor is not concerned because she sent me to a liver specialist years ago and he said my liver appears to be perfectly fine (I did not do a biopsy though). He said he was confident with the test he performed and my other blood makers he was 98% sure I'm fine. He wouldn't say 100 because I didn't want to get my liver lanced. That is great news!
I did blood work last week … my ALT/AST remain 2-3x over the normal range. Bilirubin is 0.3 (0 - 1.1) and ALP is 65 (40-120). So those are perfectly normal still. I took one day off of the gym before blood work but otherwise I was training hard for 2+ hours the other days leading up. I don’t take anything hard on the liver. Not sure if I should be concerned … those two markers keep being 2-3x over reference range for some reason but other two liver markers are low normal. Only on TRT no orals and haven’t used any in quite a few years
I appreciate this info. My normal doctor wasn’t concerned with it but another one tried referring me to a specialist … at the time I was already seeing a nephrologist bimonthly and a cardiologist bimonthly … I don’t drink and hadn’t done any orals in 4-5 years so I brushed it off and didn’t see the specialist. I think it is fine the numbers just tend to trend between 2-3x normal value for those two things and the other liver markers stay low normal. My liver enzymes have been high for 27 years now, my doctor is not concerned because she sent me to a liver specialist years ago and he said my liver appears to be perfectly fine (I did not do a biopsy though). If it was me I would want peace of mind I would get it checked out. Better safe than sorry.I appreciate this info. Your and Luki’s feedback/own experience makes me feel much better about it. Two of my favorite posters on this board. So much knowledge to soak up . I no longer need the cardiologist and the kidneys I got in remission so that’s down to once every six months for follow up so I *have* the time now for liver but I think it’s fine. I even just started up 1000mg UDCA daily just for extra peace of mind. I’ll do more blood work next month just to keep my health anxiety at bay
I have an identical situation and got a liver ultrasound done too with no abnormalities. It’s very affordable. Biopsy is another story and something I wouldn’t go for either. If it was me I would want peace of mind I would get it checked out. Better safe than sorry.
