Does anyone have any feed back positive or negative about massage therapy and our sport? I tried one of those massage envy places and scheduled a deep tissue massage. Im in the room and in comes a 20 something year old girl with small hands and a friggin utility belt stocked with gloves and creams. Down went the lights on came Gregorian chant and a fake water fall. I wake up in an hour when she nudges me and says its over. what a waste. Im looking for a physical rehab type setting. Do places like that even exist? is it even worth it?

full service

She was probably thinking you wanted the full service deal with a generous tip…happy endings.

You need to find a man that does the work. We have probably several dozen Asian message shops just a few blocks from my house. When I call for an appointment I will request a male with a heavy hand. The only problem I sometimes have trouble communicating with him.

I don't like the Craigslist option because many of those are gay men and I just don't want to deal with that idea.

Find yourself an ART specialist, active release technique. Check our Derrick Farnsworth on youtube, he is a fellow bb that performs ART on others such as Dennis Wolf and PJ Braun on YT.

You want a deep massage. Go to a Chinese massage place. They will walk on your back, use their knees with all their body weight and elbows.

were you clear about your needs regarding it?

those girls aren't weak...their finger strength is retarded, and if you're clear with them they will really get in there. My massage therapist at the moment isn't even 100 pounds I don't think and she can make even me almost tap out.

A good deep tissue massage is awesome and honestly isin't to enjoyable. I have a female that is about 5'1" 100 pounds and she can flat cripple you ass , her 60min deep tissue ad joint massage is $150 but generally last an hr and a half.

All in all the $70 I spent on the firm rumble roller is the best I've spend towards recovery.

I agree that it is really hard to find someone who can cater to our needs. The reason is that less than 1% of the population actually trains the way that we do. Ask around the gym. They are probably the people that will know best since they are in your area.

Ask for deep tissue or sport massage. Mant places have them labelled as athletic or sport massages which is basically deep tissue. My mother owns a day spa...free massages and my favorite lady is a large German. Chicks got man hands and it kills but feels so good.

If you get a deep tissue/sports massage you will know it, like theses guys said you will come out crippled and will be hurting the next day... my wife gets one every month and she is in pain when she gets home but she loves them. Your masseuse either misunderstood what you wanted or she just don't know how to give them. :)

After enough injuries, I keep deep tissue very regular. Keeps my range of motion optimum and the little achs and pains minimum.

My massage therapist is Russian with huge veiny arms and she uses specially shaped rocks to dig into you. Before she starts, she asks, "can you take pain?" in a thick Russian accent. I'm serious, lol.

Massage can be a useful recovery and rehab tool. ART is pretty specialized, and pretty expensive. Just because a practitioner has ART certification doesn't necessarily make them great, IME. It comes down to the practitioner.

Take a look at the AMTA website, and search for a deep tissue massage therapist in your area. When you find one that looks promising, reach out, tell them what you're looking for, that you're a bodybuilder, ask if they work with other lifters or large athletes. They should, in turn, be asking you a lot of questions. If they have no questions for you, there's a clue.

I'm a licensed massage therapist and I specialized in
Myofascial and neuromuscular therapy .
That's your best bet but most therapist do not offer that cause the course is very hard and you must know over 100 different techniques .this will hurt you but later it will help you.
You use you elbows , forearms cause your thumb alone will not get in deep enough
I don't practice anymore since I'm disabled now but
That what you want

I think you should just ask around town for good sports massage therapist. Do you have a Cross Fit in your area? Chances are they have an in house sports massage therapist that they can refer you to.

I had a little girl from Cross Fit (weighed less than 100 lbs) give me a deep tissue sports massage for 30 mins. The pressure she exuded was intense x10.
