Thoughts on the new album?

I think it kicks ass especially the song "now that we're dead"

I like that Metallica put out videos of every new song on YouTube. I really like Murder One, about Lemmy from Motörhead.

From what I've heard a little better than what they have been doing lately, but just doesn't compare to the old school stuff. To be fair probably nothing will compare.

Lot of good tracks on their new album. "Hardwired" and "Spit out the bone" some good speed thrash, "Now that we're dead" had a cool groovy sound to it, "Here comes revenge" with thick heavy riffs a bit like their Load albums. A good mix of different styles. I liked the album better then Death Magnetic which was a little messy.

Of course they will probably never be able to match the sound and style from their first 4 albums but many things have changed since then so it is to be expected.

I'd say it's not quite as good as the black album, but way better than everything that came after

To me the new album sounds a lot like the death magnetic album. I like it, just not blown away with it. Of course I'm 45 and still drive around with either kill em all or ride the lightning cd playin.
