A couple of weeks ago I started powerlifting and I didn't realize exactly how different it was from what I'd been doing before. After my first day of squats my hip flexors were sore for a week (I'd never gone wide stance or below parallel before), after deadlifting my back was so tight I couldn't bend over to put on my shoes, socks, or underwear (that was an experience) for 3 days after ... Bench didn't leave me crippled like the rest but I'm having to unlearn everything I've been doing for the past 3 years (as I was told by my coach, "you bench like a bodybuilder" LOL!) and try to remember to keep my elbows flared and to plant my feet. It's truly a different beast, and so far I'm having a blast I'm hoping to be ready to compete by the end of the year. I just hope I took enough time off since my last cycle to let my receptors normalize before starting up again. I started about a week or 2 before I was planning to since the first meet I really want to try for is 2 months away.
