need help with acer aspire 5100 laptop

i bought a laptop for a pawn shop and its is locked by a password how do i get around it.thanks its for my 12 year old girl thanks

Is it locked at the BIOS level or at the Operating System level, such as Windows? If it is BIOS level, go to the ACER tech support page for your model laptop and download the newest BIOS and install it. It should clear the password or at least give you an option during the process to clear the password.
