Well, this really hit the breaking point. All of my audiophile stereo, jewelry, tv, laptop etc etc were stolen out of my property. Since I work a 24 hour shift someone knew that I was not going to be home. Also, my surveillance cameras were not properly installed and not working so someone had the scoop on my property. I had over some money stashed away in what I thought was a secure spot since I've been remodeling my home for quite some time. I really dont know what to do, now if I call my insurance they will raise my premiums even though this was not my fault but it looks like I'm going to have to file a claim and take it from there. Why do people do this to others I have no clue but this is way too much and especially they hit me on my worst time.

Any advise on this serious issue? or has anyone gone through this before and could "atleast" guide me through? Sorry to post my personal issues on a board but my hard earned money and stereo gear are all GONE~! I am not a rich guy but a public service employee that risk my life on a daily basis to serve my community as a Firefighter. I guess thats what city life does to people and the price we have to pay to live in a big city....

Funny thing that I was at work serving and protecting meanwhile someone is taking all of my personal things for FREE~! :( When I have worked so hard for it. Sorry for posting this on this board and I am highly stressed and well upset.

Sorry guys~! but I seriously need some advise mad and very very upset...

as much as higher premium suck... thats what insurance is for bro, claim all that shit and at least get some money out of all this. and what really sucks is the person that hit you knows you and probably knows you well. I had my car broke into a long time ago and my stereo system and some other shit taken, well it took me about a year but i finally found out who got my shit and well lets just say i took it up with them  and it was someone close to me :( that shit sucks bro. claim everything you can and then put the word out and maybe even a small reward.. people love to squeal for money its in a lot of people's nature...LOL

Man I am sorry to hear about this. b-boy is right. File the claim and get on with it. You pay a lot of money to the insurance company so you are covered for this.

I have a lot of respect for what you guys do for the community bro. To have something like this happen leaves you feeling gutted. it is quite alright to be angry, in fact it would only be natural to be. So get the anger out of your system and start over. Again I am sorry you have to go throught this shit. Just relish in the thought that Karma is one thing no one escapes from. Today, tomorrow, next week, next month, this low life will get his!!

I had similar situation, it's terrible feeling of vulnerability when some piece of shit does something like that. How much is your deductible? How much loss are you talking about? I'm so sorry for your situation bro, i know it sux

I agree with the other guys, file the claim.A couple of other things I would suggest because Ive been where your at:double check before you turn this in make sure nothings else is missing, chances are youll find things missing later that you dont use often, call and get current replacement prices on all items(inflation),also camera's are good I use them too but if they steal your recorder or wear a mask your out of luck.If you dont have one get an alarm with a siren aswell as 911 dial up .Doesnt have to be a fancy one just get one with motion detecters, ebay has do it yourself kits cheap.Last thing, most of the time when this happens its someone you know.Try and think if you have any freinds or anybody that has been to your house that may be on drugs or having money trouble because who ever did this probably knows you or they cased your house.

I am very sorry for you loss and understand fully the sense of violation. I have had my entire house wiped out while I was at the hospital out of town with my father. They went through every single drawer. They took their time and knew no one would be there. It was emotionally devastating. The thieves did miss my cash stash, put stole items within one foot of it.

I suggest you discuss this with your insurance professional.

I don't think any of us here has complete information about you and your actual loss and claim history to make a statement to "turn it in" or not. What is the actual value of loss. Used Audiophile equipment for all but the highest end gear has little resale value. You will not get a claim for your cash. Two things are pretty certain 1) Your rates will go up 2) One more claim and you may not be able to get coverage at rates you can afford. This sux but is reality.

I have had to file claims since then on investment properties, but even then if the loss is less than $20k or so, I do not file. The inablility to get coverage would hurt me worse than the loss. I currently get at least one unit or one home a week vandalized/robbed. I do allow poisonous thoughts of traps/revenge to enter into my thinking for very short periods of time, but I am doing much better regarding it as a cost of doing business in a fairly large city.

BTW it took me a few months the first time, but I was pretty immature. I handle loss of material things much, much better now that my value system is more in line, but for me, that only came with age, you sound a little more mature than I was.

My heart truly goes out to you and I appreciate the service you give to those in need without question of whether they are deserving of it or not. Please be at Peace.

I've had alot of things stolen from me in my time. And you have to stand up for yourself one way or another. You need to call the police and file a report and take some action. If it's someone close to you I'm sure they made a mistake and will be caught!
I had to leave school for over a weak and my window in my dorm room was cracked open and these assholes broke in and took ALL my shit. From Playstations, to supplements, to my fish. Then tore the rest of my shit up. Let me tell ya things where not good when I got back and I KNOW it was someone that I knew that was on the football team with me. So my days at the place where numbered and I MADE the school cover all my fees and missing stuff Then stuck it to them about my tuition and a few other things. So I got mine back and then some!!

I hear people on here talking about filing a claim with your insurance company. You better make sure it is a good amount, or your insurance will go up too much to justify the claim. I had $5000 worth of tools stolen from my office(I moved) 3 years ago. Well, I started 2 new businesses, and liabiltiy alone ran $1000 per month, that is $12,000 a year. That does not even cover theft, as you can see, how can anyone afford to file a claim. Now, not everybody's situation is the same. Oh, I filed a criminal report with the police, your chances of them to recover your property is next to nothing. So, I sucked up the costs, learn from it, and went on. How can people stealed? Alot of scumbags out there, who do not want to do things the honest way. I am sorry about your lost.

THIEVES DESERVE TO BE SHOT.....

Had a equipment trailer stolen off a big job in January of 03.
Plasma torched the chain lock and hitch lock off on a major street in our city.
35,000.00 loss. My Insurance took 6 months to pay the claim and then dropped me immediately thereafter. Almost lost my company.
Police were absolutely worthless and could not even direct me to the officer
assigned to the case for a secondary report of additional items stolen that were left off the original report. Had to call all shifts and precincts to find him myself.

So whats the moral? List serial numbers and then make a video inventory of your stuff, install tougher security measures and make yourself a "harder target". Razor wire, alarms, cameras, etc. I no longer leave anything on jobsites...live and learn.

Perhaps public impalements would deter this type of crime.....
hmmmmmm, and no thats not too extreme.
