Novalog in Canada

I would like to try out insulin and have read a ton on this board.

I read that you can get this without a script in Canada. However, after visiting 3 pharmacies, I have found it is a Schedule 2 drug. Meaning it is up to the pharmacist to let you buy it OR you need a script. All denied my requests.

Any other Canadians have some insight on how to bypass this?

Hmmmmm......not too sure they can do that.

So if a diabetic walks into the pharmacy and is denied the sale of Humalog isn't putting them liable? I can understand opioids.

I thought so to, but they pull up your health record and can see nothing has been prescribed in the past.....

Interesting this is news to me. I haven't purchased Humalog in over a year though.

I would just keeping shopping. Sooner or later you will find one

Usually just say it's for my cousin coming from out of town. Needs when he arrives

Just go to Walmart and say "I need a vial of humalog"

Never been rejected in my life.

If they ask for a script tell them you're new to the province and haven't flipped over your health card and don't have access to a Dr.

Kind of related but also unrelated to your thread--how long is insulin good for out of the fridge? I can get humalog with 3 days TA but would this be too long to have it at room temperature or hotter?

Kind of want to switch to a faster insulin than nolvalin r

That is what I did 3 times. "Why do you need it?" "What is your name and health care number?".

You know I could go to a safe injection place and get some methadone, but insulin...no no....that shits bad!

Guess I will head into a less desirable area of town.

I’m type 1, I used to get mine through mail order pharmacy and it came with ice packs. I’m sure a lot of guys on here get it through the mail from a ug sponsor and have no issues, but these are the directions that come in the box. I’ve used opened almost spent pens that i forgot in my glovebox for weeks and they still worked fine

Storing your Pen

Unused Pens

• Store unused Pens in the refrigerator at 36°F to 46°F (2°C to 8°C).
• Do not freeze your insulin. Do not use if it has been frozen.
• Unused Pens may be used until the expiration date printed on the Label, if the Pen has been kept in the refrigerator.

In-use Pen

• Store the Pen you are currently using at room temperature [up to 86°F (30°C)]. Keep away from heat and light.
• Throw away the HUMALOG Pen you are using after 28 days, even if it still has insulin left in it.

I will mentioned I have used a open vial for more then 28 days refrigerated no problem

Did you ask for "novalog" or fast acting insulin or humalog? Perhaps they just looked up "novalog" and that didnt show up as its "novolog". Try asking for fast acting insulin or humalog specificially, i believe thats what mostly carried in the pharmacies now a days.

I believe most pharmacies in canada should have OTC humalog from what ive heard from my canadian peers, but i dont have any experience myself.

Walmart pharmacy seems to be the best for getting all insulin types. Shoppers drug mart can be good too, very rarely a problem there

I buy humalog from shoppers. I just walk up to the counter and ask for a vial of humalog. I don't bother making up stories are talking a lot. They just ask for my drivers license and if I've used it before.

walmart and shoppers - ive gone 3 separate times "Hi can I get humalog" and no questions asked or ID
