OT how to shrink mb size of pics to upload?

I wanted to change my avatar with another pic but its too many megabites to upload it. Anybody know how to compress it or shrink it down to kb size to upload it? Thax for all help....I1

What format are the pictures? Alot of people use different graphics programs - but all that stuff is really easy just with just Microsoft Paint.. Right-click on the image, and under "Open with", select "Paint".. If you want to change the size of the pic, at the top click "Image", then "Stretch/Skew", and on the top for Stretch, change the Horizontal and Vertical percentages.. If you put 50% and 50%, the image will be twice as small.. So you can make it any percentage smaller, and also bigger if you wanted..

Then to reduce the file size, click "File", then "Save as", and save it as a "jpg".. This should definitely reduce it below a megabyte.

Thanks everyone for all the help. I tried to upload it right from their website but I got invalid file. I had to sae it then upload it. It worked ok but now I got the file size on the bottom there, wtf? I'll have to play around with it. How do you cut that off?

Its already in jpg format. I changed the size to 50% x 50% but it still looked way to big in the image area. The other online program worked but I'll have to figure paint out somehow. Any suggestions, go lower than 50%?

Thanks bro, got it. I had to go down to 25% to fit it in. Thanks again for everybody's replies, great info for future reference.
