I go to Gold's here in Utah. Some locations have the metal dumbells. But most have the rubber dumbells. When I say metal I mean the kind with plates instead of a chunk of steel coated with rubber. I've noticed I can push more with the rubber compared to the plated dumbells, even though they are the same weight. Anyone else notice this? The only thing I can figure out is that they are easier to stabilize compared to the plated dumbells (incline dumbell press for example). The distance from the center of my hand out to the edge of the dumbell is less with a rubber dumbell. Or the manufacturer in China has a bad scale. Any thoughts on this?
