anyone use this BCAA? i have been using it pre contest- pre/during and post training in a FASTED state.

there is something very good about this supplement. energy levels do not dip thru the course of training which you'd think would be a massive side to training in a fasted state. i feel godly despite being in a calorie deficit.

i have never used a BCAA supplement before, and am wishing i had. cannot say enough good things about this product. try the watermellon flavour- pure win.

Agree 100%. Its really is a great product. I also used it during my last pre-contest prep. I have not stopped using it since. Green was always my favorite but some people think its too sweet. This is prob why I liked it so much during my prep.
 
Right now im using ALR Chained out...BCAA formula...I really like this product...im not on a precontest diet yet, but I have been eating pretty clean...Im going to give XTEND a shot to
 
Been using it for 2 years straight, precontest and offseason. Great BCAA product and tastes good as well.
 
I always got/get good results(less fatigue, less muscle loss when dieting) with xtend. I try other brands but still keep coming back to Xtend. Currently using universals BCAA stack(got a months worth of samples!) and it is decent but it is hard to beet xtend's flavor.

Xtend can be a little sweet and I find I do not need anywhere near the recommended dose. Also you can refill your shaker when half empty and it still tastes good!
 
My wife swears by it....uses it exclusively for pre-contest. Looks like I may have to give it a try now......
 
I always use it as well before pre-workout and during and tried others and come back to it also.

How does everyone feel about BCAA's being insulinogenic and using them pre/during morning fasted cardio?
 
The citrulline malate in the formula really helps with endurance, and vascularity at higher doses. Try six scoops before your next arm workout and see how you like it :)

A number of studies have shown that branched chain amino acids exert both an anabolic and ergogenic effect.

For example, one study showed that BCAA administration post exercise resulted in an approximately 30% decrease amino acid efflux from skeletal muscle. The authors concluded that BCAAs exert a post training protein-sparing effect on muscle tissue (4). These results have been verified in numerous other studies. It is now believed that BCAAs act through a specific pathway, the so-called signal transduction p70(S6k) pathway in skeletal muscle (5). p70(S6k) is believed to control growth-related protein synthesis (5). There is also some evidence that branched chain amino acids are preferentially broken down for fuel during exercise, arguing for BCAA supplementation to offset this effect. If this is the case, this might be one mechanism where BCAA supplementation would hold off fatigue. Leucine seems particularly critical in stimulating overall protein synthesis. Leucine mediated signaling results in a stimulation of initiation of mRNA translation and involves increases in the phosphorylation status of the translational repression 4E-BP1 and the ribosomal protein S6 kinase S6K1mentioned above. It also requires sustained activation of the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) protein kinase, a field of active research. Leucine, however, also signals to stimulate protein synthesis in skeletal muscle by a mammalian target of rapamycin protein kinase independent (i.e. rapamycin insensitive) pathway, suggesting that the amino acid may signal for protein synthesis through multiple pathways.

Interestingly, insulin is believed to exert at least part of its anabolic effect by activating the same p70(Sk6) pathway as leucine, but via different upstream channels. This argues for an additive role between elevated insulin levels and elevated BCAA levels in the promotion of anabolism. This is depicted in the graphic below.
 
I also have to bigup xtend... i have 2 Tubs of the limited release blue raspberry from about a year ago... good stuff
 
I love xtend peri-workout, I always have bcaas of some sort when I'm lifting. Trueprotein has instantized bcaas that you can make a custom mix with or by them on their own. If you want you could even throw in citrulline and glutamine like scivation does.
 
tastes great and i havent found another that includes citrulline in the mix like they do.. i just mix about 10 scoops in a gallon jug and drink it all day..
 
I like this product as well have been using it a long time now.Like others have stated I have tried others and always go back to xtend.
 
I used BCAA caps for years just due to convenience and last year I tried XTEND and have never used any other bcaa supplement. xtend is a staple in my supplement stash.
 
Yup. Its a good stuff. Been using it for about 2 yrs usually pre and post workout.
 
I've used it for about 2-3 years now. good product. Great tasting. I use it Before and after cardio and during training.

The only thing I would suggest is that their dosing recommendations (6 scoops) do more to help Scivation than to help you as the athlete. Nobody needs that kind of BCAA dose. I may do 6 scoops all together for all activities but never all at once.

Remember too that you're getting BCAA's in your diet anyway and if you're using Whey Protein, it's packed with BCAA's.... You really don't even need a BCAA supplement but it can be beneficial for times when you're dieting, working out in fasted state etc.. because you're depleted and a straight BCAA is not protein bound.
 
Real good product....really helps with training and general feeling through out the day

I do however agree, dosage recommendations do not need to be as high...i take 4 scoops pre/workout
2 whilst training, and maybe if needed 2 post workout

Real good tho...get the right flavour and its ncie :D
